Obituary of Lottie Bell Wheeler

Lottie Bell Wheeler, age 84, earned her heavenly wings on May 22,2020; 5 days before her 85th birthday.  She was born May 27,1934 in Jones Co. North Carolina to Deacon Simon Sr. and Eldress Lottie (Jones) Solomon.  She was the eight of their 11 children,  She met Alfonza Wheeler when they were both 19 years old.  They were married at age 25 on May 21,1960.  He preceded her in death in 2016.  They had 4 children; Dr. Angela Wheeler Flossmoor of IL, Carbot Wheeler of Bronx, NY, Aziza Wheeler Franklinville, NJ and Lanson Wheeler of Tulsa, OK.   Lottie was loved by those who knew her.  She was affectionately known as  "Aunt Lottie," " Aunt Lot Lot," "Little Lottie" and "Mom".  She had a spirit of infectious warm and a sweet smile.  She had a way of making you feel special. At about 70 years old, she started writing poetry for "all occasions".  Poems for Women's Day, Mother's Day, birthdays and on any day just to give encouragement. When she heard good new her response would often be  "To God be the glory!" She worked in a cookie factory in Newark, New Jersey for a number of years and retired from Vineland State School after about 26 years of working the midnight shift. In her later years she worked as a hospice volunteer. She was a faithful member of the 1st 7th Day Adventist Church of Newtonville, NJ where she is loved for her warmth and her pickled beets!  Lottie is preceded in death by her mother and father  and several siblings including; James Henry Solomon (Annie), Ora Waters, Otha Lee Solomon (Clemetine), Simon Solomon Jr., Dorothy Graham, John Solomon, Thomas Solomon and brother-in- laws John Wheeler. and  Pierre Massey.  Left to cherish her memory are her 4 children, sisters; Ruth S. Lee of Kingston, NC and Zelena Lawson of Irvington, NJ, brother Bishop Joseph Solomon of Newark, NJ, sisters-in-law Pearl Solomon, Angela Solomon, Queen Elizabeth Wheeler, Mary Wheeler, Aileen Rickenbacker, Lola Massey, Ethel Hall, Hilda Mae Funnye and brother-in-law Walter Wheeler and a host of nieces and nephews. To God be the Glory indeed!
