Obituary of Eric Best
Please share a memory of Eric to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Eric Onriel Wilson Duracy Best, affectionately known to many as “Onriel” and to others as “Bleek”, of Palmyra, New Jersey, entered into eternal rest on August 2, 2020.
Eric (Onriel) was born on September 6, 1983 in Camden, New Jersey to the late Barbara Ann Best and Eric Frederick. He was raised along with his siblings by his grandparents, Katherine (Mom-Mom) and Wilson Best (Pop-Pop). Additionally, he was loved and cherished like a grandson by the late Blanche Parr, who had a significant impact and influence on his life. He would attend church with Grandma Blanche and during that time he accepted Christ as his personal Savior. Eric began a loving relationship with the Sharps family as a child and was embraced as a son and brother. During his teenage years, he moved to Maryland and continued to bond with Robin, Greg and the family.
Eric was educated and attended private and public-school systems in both New Jersey and Maryland. While attending the public-school system in Prince George’s County Maryland, he continued his academic and athletic endeavors. He excelled in sports and was an all-star athlete in football and track and field. While attending Charles Herbert Flowers High School, he was a member of the football and track teams. He played on both sides of the football field to include “punt returner” and “running back”. In addition, he participated in many events on the track and field team including the 100 and 300-meter dash and several relay teams (4x100, 4x200 and 4x400). He was awarded “County Champion” in Prince George’s County for the fastest time in the 300-meter dash in 2003. He graduated from C. H. Flowers High School in 2003 and went on to attend Bakersfield College in California on a football scholarship. In 2016, he was inducted as a member of the “Golden Spike Club” of the C. H. Flowers High School. An honor that he was immensely proud of and treasured dearly.
Eric was the proud father of a 5-year-old daughter, London Amani Best. He was a committed and loving father and his daughter held a special place in his heart. He was an amazing father, brother, son, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend.
Eric was known to some as “Bleek”. He was given this name because he had an infectious smile, a natural rhythm and energetic personality. He loved to freestyle a verse to a song, battle dance with the latest moves and bring a smile and laughter to others. He enjoyed sports, music, fitness, bodybuilding and spending time with family and friends. He loved watching the National Football League (NFL) and was a diehard Philadelphia Eagles fan.
Eric was using his many talents and working extremely hard as he embarked on a new career as an entrepreneur with “Best1CreditSolution.” Being promoted to the position of Regional Sales Director, was a proud accomplishment and moment for him. He was looking forward to reaching new milestones.
Eric is preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Ann Best, grandparents, Wilson and Katherine Best and aunt Victoria Best McGee. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, London Best, father, Eric Frederick, brothers, Moral (Tammara) Best and Cedric Best, sisters, LaTora (Zan) Best-Khounsady and Lenora Best, special extended family, Robin, Gregory, Alan and Andre Sharps and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends.
