Obituary of Joseph A Johnson

Joseph A. Johnson, Jr. affectionately known as “Bugs” was born on December 23, 1941 to the late Joseph A. Johnson, Sr. & Elsie Mae Johnson, in Thorofare, NJ. He departed his life on August 14, 2020 at Cooper University Hospital at the age of 79. Bugs was educated in the West Deptford school system. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Army. After coming home from the military, he worked several jobs as a bartender (He loved dancing & getting the party started) He worked at the Lakeland Hospital until health issues. Bugs loved playing pinochle with his mother & sisters. He loved playing softball with his brothers and family, with their family team ‘YOUNG.GIFTED.BLACK’ where no balls would get pass the second base. They won several championships! He loved cooking and spending time with his family. He was a mentor to all his nieces and nephews. In his later years he became a faithful member of St. James AME Church in Thorofare, NJ where he served on the trustee board, choir, usher & cooking committee, until his illness prevented him from attending church. Bugs was predeceased by his parents Joseph & Elsie Johnson, Sisters Delores, Nancy Holmes, Della, Sylvia Woodall, & Pricilla Harvey. Brothers Dennis, Kenneth & Larry Johnson. Bugs leaves to cherish his memory, his brother James “Ronnie” Johnson, 1 brother-in-law Carlee Holmes, Sr. 1 sister-in-law Deatri Johnson. Rashon , Rashida, & Duwan Johnson (that he helped raise like his own) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, & freinds . Lovingly submitted, the family
