Obituary of Joyce R Pritchett

Please share a memory of Joyce to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Joyce was born in Deptford, New Jersey on July 23, 1949 to Joseph and Emma Pritchett. She was the youngest of twelve children. She attended Carpenter Street School and graduated Woodbury High School in 1967. At a young age, Joyce accepted Christ and was baptized at Bethlehem Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Community Gospel Chorus. After graduating, Joyce worked diligently as a single mother at Struthers- Dunn Relay Inc. and became a Class I tester. After many years there, the company closed, and she became a teacher’s assistant at Woodbury Child Development where she impacted several young lives. After retiring, she still had children around her home. She watched children for neighbors and always was a second mom to her grandsons. Joyce enjoyed being around family and attending the kid’s events and was their biggest cheerleader. She went to every event and we were even able to convince her to take a plane to Jamaica. That was the first time she had been out of the country. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Emma Pritchett; brothers (Melvin, Joseph, William, Allen, Lawrence) and sisters (Marguerite McCray & Carol). Joyce is survived by her only daughter, Dana Byrd; grandsons, (Damiere & Allen Byrd); sisters (Doris Brittingham, Gladys Gibbs, Mary McKinnon, Helen Perez, and Naomi Clark) and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
