Obituary of Bette C Bell

Please share a memory of Bette to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Bette Louise Bell was born April 1, 1938 in Philadelphia PA. to Norman and Nondas Casper, the first of three children. She was predeceased by her parents and her two brothers, Norman Jr. and Kenneth, and was called home to be with the Lord on August 29, 2020. Bette was educated in the Camden school system where she received numerous commendations and awards for scholastic achievement. She often sang solos in the glee club and had lead parts in school plays. She later graduated from Haddon Heights High School in the top ten of her graduating class. After graduation, she immediately started her work career path as a legal secretary at PSFS bank in Philadelphia. She continued as a legal secretary at several law firms and the Campbell Soup Company. She then became an Administrative Assistant to the Mayor of Camden, Chief of Staff to the NJ Commissioner of Community Affairs, then finally retiring in 2002 from the NJ Dept. of Health & Senior Services. Bette was married to George Bell(deceased), and had three children together, Karen, Sonya and Eric. Although she juggled work and motherhood, her role as wife and mother was always her first priority. She enjoyed sewing, decorating, playing the piano, painting, gardening and trying anything creative. As a younger woman she took banking courses, computer courses, attended aerobics and swimming classes, and was an avid runner. She was blessed with lots of energy into her older years, and always had an optimistic view on life. It was her belief that a smile and a kind word most times, would lift someone’s spirits. Bette enjoyed every moment of retirement by volunteering, attending Bible study, and caring for her late Mother. As a cancer survivor, she had a special interest in encouraging others facing the disease, by making herself available, and being a good listener. As a child, Bette attended Tenth Street Baptist Church in Camden. She later accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, and was baptized and became a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Burlington NJ. Her strong faith and love for her family was foremost in her life. Bette is survived by her children, Karen Jenifer, Sonya Bell, and Eric Bell(wife Gerri); grandchildren Raynard Jr., Shawn Sr, Victor III(wife Melinda), Natasha(husband Jason), Eric II, Alexis, Aaron, and Stephanie; nine great grandchildren, and a hosts of aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
