Obituary of Vaughn F Williams Sr

Please share a memory of Vaughn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Vaughn F. Williams Sr. was the baby boy born to the late Mary Williams and the late William “Billy” Sweet on August 24, 1964. Vaughn was born in North Philadelphia, PA and attended Benjamin Franklin High School. Vaughn loved sports and the news. He loved to stay informed. In 1986, Vaughn achieved his Associate’s degree in Accounting at the Community College of Philadelphia (CCP). On May 9th, 1988 Vaughn’s first child was born, a daughter, Nadia Green. Vaughn loved his daughter with all his heart. Several years later Vaughn furthered his education and achieved his bachelor’s degree at Philadelphia University majoring in Accounting. Vaughn was a hard worker and would work during the day and take classes at night. With his expertise he assisted family and friends during tax season. In July of 1991 Vaughn married the love of his life Carmen Watkins and from this union one son was born Vaughn Williams Jr., January 22nd, 1993. He was the love of their lives. Vaughn was a great husband and father. Just when their relationship and work careers started Vaughn received devastating news that his wife, Carmen was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) which would change both Vaughn & Carmen’s life forever. Vaughn worked extremely hard to uphold his duties as a husband, father, and son. Vaughn took care of his sick wife, children, and his mother as she became ill. Vaughn was a courageous and respected man as he would always put others before himself. In 2010, Carmen’s disease reached a point where she needed 24-hour nursing care which led Vaughn to make a difficult decision to place her in a nursing home. From that point on Vaughn would consistently visit his wife and attend to her needs until March 17th, 2019 when she lost her battle to Multiple Sclerosis (MS). As Vaughn began to adjust to his new circumstances, he received devastating news in July 2019 that he was diagnosed with Stage III colon cancer. Vaughn began treatments right away and fought the disease for over a year until he no longer could. On Sunday, September 13, 2020, the Gates of Heaven opened to Vaughn as he peacefully took his last breath at his beautiful home surrounded by family. He leaves to mourn his loss and cherish his memory: His children: daughter Nadia, son Vaughn Jr., sister Rita, sister Ellen, brother William, brother Warren, brother Wesley, sister Renee, sister Ronda, sister in-laws, brother in-laws, four grand children (Nadir, Londyn, Mason, and Bryson), aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, a host of friends, and a loving companion Natalie who was present throughout his journey of life until the end.
