Obituary of Carrie B Taylor

Ms. Carrie B. Taylor was born in Memphis, Tenn., on June 12, 1931 to the late Reverend and Mrs. Cash P. Perkins. She accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at Tabernacle Baptist Church and was baptized by Reverend G. Manning at the age of 12. She graduated from Dyersburg High School in Tenn., joined the military where she met and married William H. Taylor, Jr. to this union four children were born; Cassandra, Robert, Carl, and Darin. Being in the military afforded her and family the opportunity to be stationed stateside as well as overseas, finally retiring in Willingboro, NJ. In 1968, she joined Saints’ Memorial Community Church under the founding pastor, Rev. Norman Davis. Through her tenure there she was presented a merit service award for organizing a Prayer Band, directing the Senior Choir and Young Adult Choir. She oversaw the Young Adult Mother’s Club. She also served on the Usher Board and later became the Directress of the Voices Choir. She was employed from 1972 to 1997 at the Burlington County Sheriff Department where she started out as a Court Attendant. In 1974 she attended the Burlington County Police Academy and became a Burlington County Sheriff Officer. She attended Burlington County Community College and acquired her Associate Degree. She later became a member of the Burlington County College Alumni Association. On May 19, 2002, she was inducted into the Hall of Fame at Burlington County College. She was a member of Les Treize Amicables, Inc. social club, S.A.L.T. Council and (TRIAD) Burlington County Sheriff’s Department. She was a veteran of the U.S. Army where she served and received a military service medal for Honorable Service. After retiring from the Sherriff Department, she prayed and asked God to use her to do his will. She became a volunteer at Rancocas Valley Hospital, Mount Holly Center Nursing Home, Red Cross and Burlington Woods Convalescent Center. Her favorite scripture is: “In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy path.” Proverbs 3:6 She continued under the leadership of her pastor, Rev. Eddie L. Durham, to serve faithfully as choir directress and secretary of the Voices Choir. Her legacy: My prayer is that God directs my path that I might bring some joy, and some encouragement to help somebody – then my living will not be in vain. She leaves her daughter, Cassandra, two sons, Robert,(Wife Cynthia), Carl Sr. (Wife Pamela): Grandchildren – Carl Jr., Sharese, Danny; Great grandchildren; Adgerianna, Niyah, and Jayla; Sisters-In-law, and a host of, nieces, nephews and friends. TO GOD BE THE GLORY!!!!!
