Obituary of Clinton A Phillips, Jr.

Clinton Alfred Phillips Jr. has fought the good fight he has finished his course, and has journeyed from labor to reward. Clinton was born on May 25, 1954. He was the son of the late Clinton Sr. and Catherine Phillips. Clinton began his educational years in the Deptford School System and was known as “Puddin” during this time. That was the first of many nicknames which followed him. Once the family moved from the Deptford Woodbury areas into Camden Clinton attended Sumner, Hatch, and graduated from Camden High in 1972. Clinton’s work ethic began in high school. He worked as a paperboy, and also at Knox Gelatin in North Camden. Once grown he was employed by the State of NJ, Iron Mountain Corporation, and also Atlantic Moving Company with his brother Scott. Clinton enjoyed his time with his older brothers George(Super) and Robert(Bobby). He was also the big little brother of Cathy, Pat and Scott. He was known as Bozo, Bo, and finally Phil. Growing up in Camden Clinton made lifelong friendships. Bernal, Raymond , and Richard became those friends. His love of skating on Sunday evenings at “Skateland” in Franklinville was where you could find them. Clinton loved the oldies, and football was his sport of choice. Clinton’s team was the “Dallas Cowboys”. He would call and taut anyone who would listen on Sunday’s especially if they were winning! Clinton had a style of his own, and this is how he met his lifelong sweetheart. Brenda and Clinton met in high school. He was always well-dressed, had a beautiful smile, and that signature “afro” won her heart. Their love story has lasted for forty five plus years, and they have been happily married for the past nine years. They raised all the children in a loving nurturing home with many wonderful memories. Brenda and the children were by his side as he slept into eternity. Like most young men of his age, Clinton enlisted in the United States Army, but was given a medical discharge. Clinton returned home and began working to provide for his family. As the years passed Clinton wanted to experience life outside of Camden so he moved to Arizona. While there he worked for Advantage Logistics, and a few other companies. This is also when Clinton realized how much marriage meant in their lives, so Brenda and him were married. It’s amazing how God puts special people in our lives, so a dear friend Ms. Pam Lawson was honored to stand as a witness to this very blessed occasion. Even though married now, and happy Clinton realized their hearts were in Camden and permanently returned. Clinton loved his children and had a special love for each one of them. His wonderful grands and new great grand were all so very special to him. He will live in their hearts forever. As the days went by and no cure was evident a visit from his sister gave the family peace. His sister Pat asked him,”Do you accept Jesus as your Saviour, and being unable to speak he blinked twice which meant yes! To God Be the Glory for the life of Clinton Alfred Phillips Jr. Clinton leaves blessed and cherished memories to his loving and devoted wife Brenda L. Phillips; five wonderful children, Claude Clark, Letrice Pollard, Felicia Phillips, Adrian Pollard, La’Shelle Pollard; seven loving grandchildren Imani, Darien, Nehemiah, Justus, Isaiah, Elijah, Dejanea; one adoring great-grandson Dakota; three supportive and loving siblings Catherine Phillips,, Patricia Phillips, Scott Phillips; one loving aunt Carrie Jones; one special uncle Arthur Wilson; two precious godchildren Ryan, Cameryn; three life-long friends Bernal, Raymond, Richard, a very dear friend Pam Lawson, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and many dear friends.
