Obituary of Martha M Weathers

Please share a memory of Martha to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Martha Melvina Weathers,81 yrs., of Camden, NJ., passed away October 2, 2020, with her family by her side.   She was born to the late James and Hattie Spearman.  Affectionately called, “Ms. Mel” or “Sis. Mel” by her family and friends.  She loved children.  So much so, she opened up her own daycare center to help low income mothers be able to go to work and know their children would be well taken care of.  By providing this service, she made it possible for mothers to afford quality child care.  She operated this business for over 30 years from her home.  Over that time span she impacted hundreds of mothers, fathers and children equally. Always doing so with the love of the Lord in her heart.   But her first love was the Lord.  She loved church and her Calvary Bible Tabernacle church family.  She never missed church unless she was sick or unable to attend.  She was also an avid reader of the bible, and would hold summer bible classes at her home for the children and their parents too.  She loved to witness and talk about the Lord to every and anyone who would listen.  Mom’s favorite saying was, “You’ve done it your way, you’ve done it the world’s way, now trying doing it God’s way and see the difference. She also loved to dress up and decorate her beautiful home and have Valentine’s dinner for the single and widowed women of the church.  Martha was not only a wonderful mom, wife, sister and friend, she absolutely loved the Lord.   She was married to the late James J. Weathers for 41 years.  Out of that union, there is four children to cherish her memories: Her daughters, Pamela Ford, Debra (John) Chappell, Laurie (Clyde) Lynard and son, Jamie Weathers.  One sister, Harriet (Ron) Dickerson, 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 1 God son, Thomas Walls, and 1 God Daughter, Jewel Taylor and a host of nieces and nephews. She also leaves to mourn her two best friends, Marie Cunningham and Georgia Mae Smith.
