Irene Lebednikas

Obituary of Irene A. Lebednikas

Please share a memory of Irene to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Irene A. Lebednikas was born to the late Mary Armstrong-Morris on March 1, 1953 in Virginia.  Irene was raised by her maternal grandparents, Gray and Roberta Armstrong. Irene completed her education and graduated from Rocky Mount Senior High School in 1972.  In 1983, Irene was blessed with a son, Jerome Rice. While working at Amazon, Irene met Arthur Lebednikas in 1999.  Irene and Arthur fell in love and began their married journey on her birthday in 2002. Through thick and thin they were there for one another.  Arthur describes Irene as being his heart and soul.  They were married for eighteen years. Irene loved the Lord and accepted Him as her personal savior. Together Arthur and Irene joined People’s Baptist Church in 2008, then under the leadership of Bishop Roger Woodard.   She loved her PBC Church leaders (Pastor Tyrone and Kathleen Shepeard, and Apostle Jesse Shepeard) and the PBC family.  Irene was a member of the Usher Board and the Missionary Ministry. Irene was employed as a cook and caregiver by the Salvation Army in Wilmington, Delaware for eleven years.  She was a faithful employee until her health failed. Irene will be remembered as a loving sister, mother, wife, grandmother and friend.  She was a fashionista in her own right.  She was known as a “cook extraordinaire”.  Her compassion, smile, laughter, and humor will certainly be missed. Irene leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Arthur; son Jerome; grandchildren, Jamia, Ja’Lisa, and Jerome Jr.; her siblings, Carol Ann Sharpe (Leander), Dorothy E. Rogers (Ronald), Sally Ruth Gorham, Dianne Gorham, and Melvin B. Gorham.  Irene was preceded in death by her siblings Mary Ann Arrington and Michael A. Gorham.  She also leaves to cherish her memories her brother in laws; George Lebednikas (Kathy), Andrew Williams (Abena) and Raymond, her “bestie” Betty Jackson, the Salvation Army family, as well as a host of relatives and friends.
