Obituary of Elaine Brown

Please share a memory of Elaine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Elaine Brown, affectionately known as “Redzie” quietly and peacefully answered the master’s call from earth to “Glory” on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 as her family witnessed her home going to a better place. Elaine Brown was born on April 18,1946 in Caswell County, North Carolina to Leerie and Virdie Brown. She was the oldest of four siblings. At a young age along with her parents she moved to Philadelphia, PA where she remained for the duration of her life. Elaine was educated in the Philadelphia Public School System. A savvy businesswoman, Elaine operated her private house cleaning business for over thirty years giving her clients exceptional service. Upon retirement she enjoyed spending time with her family, throwing her annual block parties and hosting occasional get togethers. Her warm and loving personality allowed her to develop a special and lasting relationship with all her siblings and friends.  She had a great sense of humor which she shared with everyone.  But do not cross her or you would receive a harsh lashing of the tongue.   If you knew Redzie than you knew she was the life of the party when SHE wanted to be, but as she would say do not put her in one of her “moods”. Elaine accepted Jesus Christ as her lord and savior early in life. She was active in several ministries over her life, she was a founding member at the City of Refuge Church where she served as mother of the church. Her faith was strong and brought her through several months of sickness, no matter what she faced she remained steadfast that God was good and never gave up.  But at last her heavenly father told her it was time to come home. Elaine was married to the late Hillman Lyons and from this union one child was born, Talea Jordan. To know Elaine was to love her and she will be missed by many. She is preceded in death by her parents Leerie and Virdie Brown, two granddaughters, Virdie Elaine and Talea two of her siblings Larry Brown Sr. and Debra Brown. She leaves to cherish her memories: her Daughter Talea (Ronald), her sisters Sharon (Gregory) and Diane (Roland). Her grandchildren Aliya (Davon) and Rameen Sr., greatgrandchildren Tiymeena, Rameen Jr., Dior, Rameer and Noree. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Lovingly submitted, The Family.
