Please share a memory of Norman to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
NORMAN FRANKLIN JONES entered this life on March 29, 1929 and went home to Glory on December 21, 2020 at age 91. He is the son of the late Walter Sherman Jones and the late Claudine Archer Jones (Williams) of Pennsauken NJ. Although he is affectionately well-known as (Mr.) Norm, he was given many dearing names by those who knew him in many of life’s streams. “Uncle Nornce”, “Pop-Pop Jones”, and “Stormin’ Norman”, by his bowling mentees and friends. He attended the Merchantville School system in Merchantville, NJ. CAREER, ACHIEVEMENTS, AND FAMILY Norman worked in various fields of employment from the Sanitation Department for Pennsauken Township to a Construction Foreman for Union Local 222. He was a lifetime fitness buff and could often be seen biking or walking around Cooper River Park for miles. He was well known for his “Green Juice” he would drink faithfully every morning that he believed contributed to his longevity. In his early sporting years, he was recruited by the Cleveland Indians baseball association. However, his love for bowling would be his finest badge of honor. He bowled on many teams, both locally and nationally, and even bowled against greats like Earl Anthony. He received numerous awards and trophies amongst the proudest he wore his 800 series ring. He married the love of his life “Dottie” in 1950, and from that union they had 5 children. Later in life, he loved family gatherings and could often be seen closing his eyes and soaking in the sounds of all the busyness, trash talk and laughter. He also enjoyed playing cards, baseball, and horse racing. Other favorite things were York Peppermint Patties, Planters Mixed Nuts, Toy Candy, Parks Dairy Ice Cream and Moms Christmas Cookies!
