Doris Mae Banks was born on August 27, 1934 to Walter Myers Sr. and Fannie Mae Person in Mt. Holly, NJ. Doris went home to be with the Lord on January 1, 2021. Doris was the second of six children. She attended the Palmyra school system and graduated from Palmyra High School in 1953. In 1951, Doris met Paul Abraham Banks, Jr., and they were united in marriage on October 24, 1953. From this union eight children were born. Doris also was a faithful member of Mt. Zion A.M.E Church in Riverton, NJ, and also sang in the church choir. Doris was a stay-at-home mother during her early years of marriage. In 1971, she began working as a crossing guard at Delaware Avenue School, completing five years of service. In 1978, Doris worked on the assembly line at Quickie Manufacturing in Cinnaminson, NJ until her retirement in 1995. Doris “loved” serving as a host for family picnics, parties, holidays and playing card games with her sisters Elsie Kidd, Rose Myers (deceased), and her niece Gretchen Myers (deceased). Doris also enjoyed watching her sons play sports and going to the casino in Atlantic City, NJ. Doris was preceded in death by her husband Paul; her son, Fred Henry; her brothers Walter Jr., Ernest, and George; and her sister Rose. She leaves to mourn in her passing: seven children, Paul III, Derrick, Marion, Paula, Waverly (Sylvia), Jon and Aretia; eight grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Elsie; three sisters-in-law, Gertrude Williams (Bob), Darlene David, and Dorothy Banks; and other relatives and friends.
