Obituary of James Evans

When the Lord speaks...On Monday, January 25, 2021 the Lord spoke with James Davis Evans expressing love and grace and giving him passage to Eternal Rest. James “Jimmy” Davis Evans was born to the late Robert Evans, Sr. and Maggie Evans on April 14, 1954 in Philadelphia, PA. He was one of nine children. He was educated within the Philadelphia Public School System. As a young man Jimmy was baptized at Second Antioch Baptist Church, Philadelphia, PA. Jimmy spent his early work years as an employee of Owens Corning Fiberglas, Barrington, New Jersey, where he worked with family members and friends. He retired in June 2020 from BJ’s Stores, Cumberland County, NJ where he worked as a Distribution Specialist. Jimmy’s favorite pastimes were driving his automobile across the United States to various states and cities and he was interested in private airplane operations and flight instructions. He commented that he enjoyed learning about small craft flight operations and airplane sightseeing while flying out of a suburban Philadelphia private airport. He found pleasure in viewing earthly things from high above. Jimmy was predeceased by his father Robert Evans, Sr., his mother Maggie Evans, his sister Bessie Evans-Mull, his brother George Michael Evans, and his brother Robert Evans, Jr. He is survived by his siblings, Betty Jackson of Williamstown, NJ, Alice Bryant (Arthur) of Somerdale, NJ, Susan Harris of Clementon, NJ, Ruth Burnett-Armstrong (Grady) of Blackwood, NJ, and John Evans of Columbus, Ohio. Also left to mourn his passing are his uncle Robert Jenkins of Augusta, Georgia, his aunt Maude Jenkins of Augusta, Georgia and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
