Obituary of Shirley A Mooney

Shirley A. Mooney, 76, of Lumberton, New Jersey passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at Medford Care Center, Medford, New Jersey. Born on February 8, 1944 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Shirley accepted Christ at an early age and practiced the wishes of the Lord. For those who knew her knew she was a “prayer warrior”. She graduated from Germantown High School in 1963. In 1964, Shirley married Earl Howard Jones, Sr. From that union her beloved son Earl Jones Jr., was born. In 1979, Shirley later married Artice J. Mooney. From that union her second beloved son, Kenneth J. Mooney, was born. She worked various jobs throughout her life and even received a nursing certificate later in life, but her greatest accomplishments were being a dedicated wife to her husband of 42 years, Artice J. Mooney, and mother of her two sons, Earl Jones Jr. and Kenneth J. Mooney. Both of whom were her pride and joy. Anyone who knew Shirley knew she was a stylish, sophisticated and elegant woman. She loved to shop, dance and buy beautiful presents for herself. She also enjoyed traveling with members of her church, playing bingo at the senior center, and love to tease about the “men”. She had a playful, warm and gracious spirit and loved to talk to everyone. To have known her was to love her and her charming personality endeared her to all. She will be “greatly” missed by all who knew her. Proceeded in death were her parents, Betty and John Dykes. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Artice J. Mooney; son, Earl H. Jones Jr. (Tonya Carter); son, Kenneth J. Mooney; sister, Mary Sutton; three nephews, Steven, Michael and John Sutton; one great-niece, Kyla; one great-nephew, John; two uncles, Harold Dykes and Joseph Dykes; one aunt, Leona Hopewell; one Goddaughter, Dawn “Sheree” Fontaine; her very dear friends Esther and Lee Tabb and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
