Obituary of Theresa D Boyer

Theresa “Daisy” Boyer transitioned to her heavenly home on March 20, 2021. Born Daisy Muse on June 27th, 1931 in Philadelphia Pennsylvania, Daisy was the oldest of thirteen children. She grew up in the Grays Ferry section of Philadelphia. Daisy was educated in the Philadelphia school system. She was a self-taught master seamstress. She made clothing for famous individuals, including movie stars. Her children and grandchildren also benefited from her talent and skills. One Easter, Daisy made suits for all of her young sons. Later, she would design dresses, costumes and other clothing for her family. Daisy was an outgoing person with an infectious personality. She loved people and people loved her. She would enter a room and take over any conversation or befriend anyone. In 1952, Daisy met the love of her life, Richard W Boyer (Dick). They were married on March 23, 1953. This union was blessed with nine children. Dick and Daisy bought their first house in Grays Ferry, approximately 2-1/2 blocks from Daisy’s mother. In 1968 (March 15th) they moved to Willingboro, NJ, where they both spent the rest of their life. Daisy and Dick overcame a number of adversities, due to being an interracial couple. Despite not being accepted by her husband’s family, because she was black, she never let this have a negative impact on her life, outlook or how she treated others. When her mother in law visited, Daisy showed her love, grace and compassion. Daisy loved the Lord. She initially followed her husband’s wishes by attending the Catholic Church. However, in 1976, something happened that changed her life; she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior. From then Daisy attended Bible studies with neighborhood ladies, who called into question some doctrine that Daisy believed. In 1977 Daisy, not able to answer those questions, sought out a church that focused on the Word of God. She was led to Calvary Bible Baptist Church. From there, she was baptized and she and her husband, Dick, who was eventually led to the Lord by Daisy, joined the church in 1977. Daisy was diagnosed with Polymyositis in her mid-thirties; a muscle disease that causes muscle weakness and resembles muscular dystrophy. She was later diagnosed with Paget’s disease, a chronic disease of the bone. Daisy never let any disease impact her ability to tell others about Christ. She served in the bus ministry. She would perform visitation or “witnessing” by driving up to people who were walking and hand out tracks from her car. Daisy would also pick up strangers, hitch-hiking, to tell them of the love of Christ, ignoring the complaints of her children. Daisy was also a prayer warrior. She would always look to gather with others, including her sisters and brothers, children, or friends and neighbors to pray for salvation, healing or other needs that were requested. There was NEVER a time which any person told her of a need, that she wouldn’t spend extensive time praying with and for them. Other times, she often would trap her children, particularly her boys in their bedroom, by sitting in a chair, blocking the doorway, to pray over them and read the Bible. Daisy is preceded in death by her husband, Richard, son Robert Dale Boyer and daughter’s Sheila Lillian Burke, Wendy Boyer-Powell, granddaughters Ruth Boyer, Brenda Boyer and grandson Christian Bauman. She also preceded by her parents, John and Louise Muse, brothers and sisters John, Wilmoth, Alfred, Carol, Charles and Kenneth (Tuffy). Daisy was a faithful wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. She leaves a legacy of love, strength and memories to her children, Gregory, Richard Jr, Patricia, James (Stewart), Ehrica and Ellery. She also leaves behind Sister’s Bertha, Millicent, Cecile and Jane, Brothers Oscar and William Muse, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many others who loved and adored her.
