Obituary of Queen Alto Warren

Queen Alto Nixon-Warren aka “Queenie” was born on June 1, 1949 to the late Lewis and Ada Nixon. She was born in Kings and Queen County, Virginia.  Queen was the second from the last child of nine children. She attended Woodstown public school in New Jersey. She also attended a nursing school in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania while she stayed with her last sister, Thelma Nixon-Thomas. As a child, she loved singing, dancing, and playing with her siblings, whom she was very protective of them.   In 1969, Queen met Willard “Tony” Jackson at his father’s barbershop. They married in 1971 and from that union were five children: Dr. Crystal Cream, Willard Jackson Jr., Marcus Jackson, Job Jackson, Richard Jackson (deceased), and from a previous relationship first born Melanie Gleabeas. She survived by her sisters and brothers: Dorothy Banks, Mildred Jones, Edith Crews, Arlene Taylor, Farah Shabazz, Nancy Dantzlar, Thelma Nixon-Thomas (deceased) and Bertha Bradner (deceased). In 1985, She and her five children settled in Camden, NJ where she worked in various domestic jobs. Her last job as a Dietary Aide.  She eventually moved to Fayetteville, North Caroline, where she met husband John Warren. They moved to Salem, NJ up until his passing. Later her son Job resided together in Salem, NJ. She stays with her daughter Crystal in Camden, NJ up to the time of her death.
