Barbara L Colangelo was born on May 22nd 1940 to James Opie and Emily Opie in Camden, NJ she was raised in Audubon, NJ, she is the 4th of 6 children. She was educated in the Audubon city school district and graduated from Audubon High School. Barbara was a sweet loving easy-going gal and she remained that way all of her life. She loved to hang out with her sister Carol and their lifelong friend Sandy, there was always an adventure when these ladies got together. She also enjoyed spending time with her other siblings as well often sometimes getting into some mischief. Barbara worked many years for Concerned Citizens of Camden, her passion was helping others. Barbara eventually retired and moved to Florida where she lived for many years until her health started to decline and she moved back to New Jersey so her daughter and granddaughter could take care of her until she was called home on April 1st 2021. Barbara had 4 beautiful children Steven, Patrick Deborah and Kevin and her life’s joy was raising her children and eventually her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was known affectionately as “Mom-Mom or Grand mom to her grand and great grand babies, always buying us our favorite toys, even if she had to wait in line for hours to make it happen. Barbara was a fun, caring, and loving mother, sister, aunt and friend to everyone she loved. She loved to watch Wrestling never missing an episode, she loved to read books and especially James Patterson novels, the love of her life was the actor James Dean, she carried a picture of him in her wallet and would tell anyone that asked that he was the love of her life. She loved her family and was always there for everyone. Barbara leaves behind her 4 children Steven Sr. (Donna), Patrick, Deborah (Larry), and her baby boy as she would call him Kevin (Michelle). Barbara had 10 grandchildren Natasha, Lawrence, Michael, Steven Jr, Allison, Kevin Jr, Mia, Shymira, Nate and Leah. Barbara also leaves to mourn her 15 great grands who she loved so very much especially her great grandson Brandon whom she called Mr. Brandon, he was a joy in her life. Barbara leaves to mourn her 3 sisters Doris (Walt), Carol (Ed), and Nancy (Joe), One special person who she called her sweetie and she was his Honey-Boo, Quamiere Pone, and a host of other fanily members and friends who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents James and Emily, her two big brother Tommy and Jimmie. Barbara’s infectious spirit will live on through all the people who loved her. Heaven has truly gained and Angel.
