Please share a memory of Chester to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Tyrone’s Journey Chester T. Wilson, lovingly known as Tyrone was a husband, father, son, brother, cousin, uncle, a mentor, and a friend. Tyrone was a man that wore many hats and in doing so was always willing to assist in any way that he could. He was loving, kind, and always the consummate comedian. Those that knew him will attest to his character. Tyrone was born April 26, 1954, to the late Chester Lilly and Cora Mae Wilson, he was one of five children. He was educated in the Philadelphia School System and graduated from Olney High School. Tyrone was a hard and diligent worker until December 2017 when health issues presented, and he was no longer able to work. He had always been a consistent provider for his family, sometimes working more than one job at a time. He loved being a dad and caring for his girls. He had several jobs in his lifetime, the most memorable one was his job at Albert Einstein Medical Center where he served as a lieutenant with Security, for over 25 years. It is also where he met the love of his life, Felice, and later married. Tyrone enjoyed this job and served as a mentor for many that he supervised. He enjoyed rainy nights as he drove patrolling the hospital surroundings making sure to keep the integrity of the hospital safe and secure. After leaving Einstein he worked with GMAC mortgage company for over 30 years where he served in many departments because his skills were diverse. He continued to mentor and tutor young men and women, always advising them on job-related activities, as well as activities of their personal lives. He could be heard saying “You have to put the work in to be successful in life; it’s important to have a good work ethic”! Or “Man, you have got to treat her special and always keep her first, after God!” Tyrone was a great cook and really enjoyed cooking. He could make the best steak anyone has ever made. He enjoyed cooking for church events, barbequing for cookouts or just cooking and inviting people over to share a meal. He got pleasure out of seeing people enjoy eating a meal he prepared. Tyrone grew up in the church but recommitted his life to Christ at New Life Ministries in 2005, where he served in the Choir and Praise and Worship team playing the guitar. He also served on the Outreach Ministry, at New Life Ministries’ Community Development Corporation, where he traveled with the team to Louisiana to serve with the Habitat for Humanity efforts during hurricane Katrina. That trip affected him profoundly, seeing the devastation and the needs of the people, and when he returned home, he continued to try to help people in any way he could. Tyrone is preceded in death by his father, Chester Lilly, mother Cora Mae Wilson, brother Ossie Carraway, and sister Geraldine Wilson. He is survived by his wife of over 30 years, Felice (whom he named Mrs. Smoothie), sisters Priscilla Poole, Bonnie Pettus/Nelson, daughters Ariesha, Tyra, Heather, Tyrina, and Brittani, grandsons, Erik, Sam, Tyrin, Andrew, and Asher; one granddaughter Madaline, nephews, especially Curtis Wilson who was more like a brother than a nephew, nieces, cousins, mother-in-law, brothers and sisters in law, and a host of friends.
