Obituary of Alvin W. Bryant

Alvin Bryant was Born on January 5, 1953, in Philadelphia, PA.  He was the son of the late Jesse Cook and Annie Bryant. He was raised within the 5th street community. Sadly, Alvin departed this life Sunday, July 25, 2021. He had two children precede him in death Alvin Haynes, Arlene Dunbar, and one grandson Rahseul Maven. Also two sisters Henrietta, Glenda and three brothers Walter, Bernard, and Phillip.    Alvin was educated in the Philadelphia Public School System where he took his education very seriously. He attended Edward BOK Vocational High School. Graduating with a diploma and a Technical Certificate in Welding, Alvin was off to a great start in life.  He graduated with an advantage yet he wanted to go further. Alvin transition to Harrisburg Community College to further his education in Welding. Being the oldest of 6, Alvin was a leader, protector, and known as a Boss within his family and community.  He had loving, fun, and caring relationships with his siblings and valued them deeply.   This impacted future relationships in Alvin's life.  Having found love, Alvin married Vernea in 1978 and although this unit dissolved, they continued to have respectful friendship for each other.  Alvin wanted another chance at being a husband so, in November, 1988, Alvin married Robin and two beautiful children were created. Alvin was a hardworking man. He worked in many facets such as Arc, Air Arc, Brazing, Cast Iron, and different parts of Welding, Welding testing, and supervisory positions.  Those skills along with his personality landed him in jobs at companies such as Aire Bethlehem Steel Corporation, L.R Wilson & Sons Inc., Anvil Iron Works, Kvaerner Shipyard, and many others.  Alvin was also very funny, a real comedian. Alvin was well known and had a lot of nicknames.  He was affectionately known Al, Fareed, Alkee, Al all that, and double-A. He loved to party and you could be sure that he would be the "life of any party." Alvin loved to dance and wasn't afraid to show it. “The Robot” was one of his favorite dances. He proved this when he was a dance contest winner.  Alvin loved to dress and he was always "well dressed."  He referred to himself as a “classic man”. Swimming was another one of Alvin's hobbies. He also played on a baseball little league team.  In his later years, Alvin enjoys traveling, sightseeing, and meeting new people. Alvin developed a love for gardening and had a green thumb. He was also a block captain for several years right up to his death. He was known to lend a helping hand in the community and in his family. He adored walking his aunt Rosalie dogs. Alvin loves classic films. He got a kick out of telling women that you got a set of cakes on you. Alvin had a unique relationship with each of his children and an unbreakable bond. Alvin leaves to cherish his wife Robin Bryant. His children Jeanne Perkins, Rakeem Cadogan son in law Charles Cadogan, Justin Bryant, and Al’Lestin Bryant. His 28 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. His sisters: Nanci, Laverne, His Brothers: Freddie, Jessie, & Louis. As well as a host of  Nieces, Nephews Cousins, and Friends.
