Obituary of Robert M. McKinney
Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Robert Maurice McKinney, 30, of Ambridge Pennsylvania, was born in Willingboro, New Jersey on August 22, 1991. He departed this life on September 6, 2021 in Ambridge. Robert, or “Big Rob” or “Gentle Giant”, as he was affectionately known by many, or “Bruh Bruh”, as he was adoringly known by his younger sisters, was raised in Willingboro, Collingswood, and Mount Laurel, New Jersey, where he graduated from Lenape High School in 2010.
Robert spent most of his adult life between Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he worked at Creekside Springs and was also self-employed with his own car detailing service, and Palm Coast, Florida, where he worked as a counselor for Abundant Life Ministries – Hope House Inc.
Robert was caring and kind-hearted, and brought joy into the lives of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. He had a generous spirit, and an infectious laugh that stayed with you long after you left his presence. He had such a big smile, and he showed it, even when he wasn’t feeling his best. Robert was affectionate, and loving, just wanting everyone to be there for each other, and to respect and love one another.
Robert was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Janice Helena Brown, his paternal grandmother, Mary Ann McKinney, his maternal grandfather, Hencliffe W. Brown, and his aunt, Robin Michele McKinney.
Robert is survived by his mother, Desiree Teresa Brown, his father, Robert Matthew McKinney, his sisters, Sanaa Michele McKinney and Malia Lynn McKinney, his grandfather, Robert Lee McKinney, his girlfriend, Lea Shepherd; his aunts Debbie “Cheryln” Brown, Gem Brown-Louis (Richard) and Suzanne McKinney; his uncles Marshall Jay (Nancy) and Claxton Brown (Hope); and his special cousins Sheena Knight and Steffon Knight. Robert is also survived by a host of other relatives and friends who loved and will miss him dearly.
