The Life Celebration of Muriel Ann Primas
Muriel Ann Wright Primas, the third child born to the late Pontell F. Wright and Freda Bailey Wright, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 22, 2021.
Muriel, who was born on February 5, 1939, graduated from Lawnside Elementary School and Haddon Heights High School. After high school, “Murl Ann”, as she was affectionately called, worked in retail for several years. Trusted by many she provided childcare for many parents in Lawnside. Muriel was married to the love of her life, Garnett Primas. They became the proud parents of Candida, Gregory, Cristol and Cynthia. They had a happy and successful marriage for 48 years. Before Garnett’s death in 2008, they enjoyed traveling to many countries. She was a devoted wife and mother. Murl Ann loved to cook. Her brownies and potato salad were family favorites.
Along with her brothers and sisters, she attended Sunday School at Mt. Pisgah A.M.E. Church. It was there she accepted Christ as her Savior and became an active member serving on the Stewardess Board for many years. Later in life, she and her husband became members of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Lawnside. There she served as a Stewardess and a Greeter. Muriel was a former member of the Lawnside Scholarship Club and a former reporter for the Lawnside Chronicle…a monthly Lawnside newspaper in the late 1950’s. She was a life-long resident of Lawnside and loved her close-knit community. She was one of the first occupants of the new Senior’s apartments, The Meadows, which was at one time her former elementary school. She spent the last years of her life being able to socialize daily with old and new friends in the building.
Muriel had a sweet, quiet spirit and was always willing to help in any situation. After her sister Gloria passed, she lovingly cared for Gloria’s daughters, Rondalaya and Tondalya DeShields, as she did her own daughters. After her mother’s long illness and death, Muriel was the caring big sister for her younger siblings. Six of them preceded her in death..Pontell, Jr., Cynthia, Gloria, Nancy, Bruce and Desmond.
Left with loving and precious memories are her son, Gregory Primas; her three daughters, Candida and her husband Rodney Adkins, Cristol Primas and Cynthia Primas; two special nieces Rondi and Tondi; one grandson, Rodney Adkins III, five granddaughters, Ietta Parrott, Crystal Thompson, Jazmin and Jada Taylor and Blaire Adkins; two special grandchildren Amber DeShields and Jayden Harris; one brother, Kenneth Wright, Sr. , two sisters, Brenda and her husband Bilal Moss, and Letitia Wright, two brothers-in-law, Ronald DeShields and William Coney; three sisters-in-law, Shirley Wright, Michelle Wright and Angela Wright; a special cousin and friend, Ellen Benson; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
