Obituary of Algretta J Rushdan

Algretta J. Rushdan Obituary (1941-2021) Algretta Jacqueline (Greta) Rushdan, 80, of Willingboro, NJ, passed away peacefully on October 3rd, 2021 in her residence. Memorial service will be held at May Funeral Home on October 8th, 2021 at 10 am. The viewing will precede the service at 9:30 am. Cremation will occur at Harleigh Cemetery in Camden (due to COVID-19 restrictions, attendance at Harleigh is limited to the immediate family). Algretta was born in Georgetown, SC to Samuel & Rosa Wilson on July 26th, 1941. She’s the 3rd of 16 siblings. She attended Howard High School and graduated in 1958. Greta worked as a clerk for the New York State Law Department for 15 years. In her leisure time, she enjoyed growing and taking care of her plants. Anybody who knew her, definitely knows that she had a green thumb and could grow big beautiful plants. She also enjoyed working in her garden, cooking and baking for her family, shopping, vacationing, visiting family, having fun with her grandchildren, laughing and entertaining family and friends. Algretta is survived by her childhood sweetheart and beloved husband of 59 years, Kenneth Rushdan. Children: Sylvia Rushdan-Browne of Staten Island, NY; Derrick (Mary) Rushdan of Bowie, MD; Monica Rushdan of Hamilton, NJ; Jibril (Isis) Rushdan of Haymarket, VA. Grandchildren: Cashé Jones, Shannon Browne, Steven Browne, Niya Menefee, Kiana Rushdan, Marcus Fortune, Miles Fortune, Kiaros Rushdan and Athena Rushdan. Siblings: Roberta Turner of New Haven, CT; Vernon (Sandy) Wilson of New Haven, CT; Margaret (Charles) Benjamin of Chicago, IL; Angela Wilson of Georgetown, SC; Will (Audrey) Wilson of Simpsonville, SC; David (Gwendolyn) Wilson of Lithonia, GA along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and lifetime friends. Memorial donations may be made to the Rushdan Family, 37 Crescent Rd, Willingboro, NJ 08046. Greta is looking down on us all with love in her heart and a big smile on her face!
