Obituary of Melvin McKune

Please share a memory of Melvin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Melvin Shaw McKune was born in Brooklyn, NY on March 29, 1957 to the late Wilbur Shaw Sr. and Mamie Lou McKune Shaw. He was the oldest of his 3 siblings, Wilbur Shaw, Jr. (Monique Shaw), Kevin C. Shaw (deceased) and a sister. He was raised by his late grandparents, George Bennet "Jack" and Daisy L. McKune in Holly Hill, SC, from 2 weeks old until he went to live with his parents again in 1970. He attended Abraham Lincoln High School in New York. Soon after, he joined the New York National Guard where he met his first love, Sharon Youmans (deceased). They leave behind their beloved son, Deshawn Youman. Melvin's adventurous, jack of all trades spirit then led him to Fort Hamilton Army Base where he worked as a civilian and met Virginia Ryan. He leaves behind his beloved daughter, Nicole Marie McKune. He spent his last 10 years residing in New Jersey. To know Melvin is to love him. He has a humor like no other. He enjoyed being outdoors, being around people, his music and his daily multiple phone calls to his brother Wilbur. He leaves behind his four granddaughters, Alexandria Hooper, Deshondria Youmans, Jasmine Hall and Nia Hall. His Uncle Harry McKune, Aunt Adele McKune Walker, Aunt Jackie Mae McKune, Uncle Richard Shaw and his pre-deceased Uncle George McKune, Jr and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
