Obituary of Donald A Nixon

Donald Allen Nixon was born in Atlantic City, NJ on October 29, 1926 under the name of Donald Allen Dorsey to Floyetta Dorsey, a Professional Broadway Dancer.
Donald was raised by William& Ellen Nixon, his foster parents, at the age of 5yrs old due to a fatal accident leaving his biological mother paralyzed.
Donald was enrolled in school under the name of Nixon and continued to use that name throughout his life. He attended and graduated from Upper Freehold Township High School in Allentown, NJ Class of 1945. From there he enlisted into the U.S. Navy.
After serving his term, Donald returned and became a resident of Trenton, NJ where his life of accolades began. A longtime resident of Trenton, NJ Donald worked and retired from Central Paper Company on Bellevue Avenue, Trenton, until they moved to Ewing Twp. He was a Truck Driver who enjoyed travelling to new places and meeting a host of new friends.
Some of his accolades include:
- Scoutmaster of Troop 73
- Secretary, Trustee Board – East Trenton Neighborhood Center
- Colonial Bowling Lane Hall of Fame – 300 Games
- Founder of the Sunday Free Clinic – East Trenton
- Volunteer Board Member of United Progress Inc
- Advocated for the Trenton Free Lunch Program
- Started a Winter Fuel Program to allow residents of East Trenton to receive coal/oil during the winter months on a “Buy Now, Pay Later” agreement
- Notary – Tax Preparer 1967-1998
- Allentown Class Reunion Board Member
- And a host of other community programs
Donald was pre-deceased by his loving wife, Bernice Nixon of 51 years, departing this life on the exact date as his beloved wife, his parents Floyette Dorsey-Taylor (James), his father Madison Spain, Foster parents William & Ellen Nixon, Foster brother Robert Davis, son Ernest Taylor, grand daughter Darcel Gardenhire and grandson Aaron Taylor.
Leaving to cherish his memories are: two daughters, Donise Nixon and Mildred Taylor, Foster sister Kay Wanda Brooks, loving grandchildren; Lenore Taylor-Foy, Timothy Wiley, Tina Jones, Asia Taylor, Tyrone Smith, Larry Nixon, Sherron Taylor, Nikiah King, Alisha Taylor. A host of great grandchildren, one special niece Regina Brooks Wheeler and a close friend Claire.
