Life Story Reverend Janet Freeman “Wezie” was born on September 7, 1944, in Salisbury Maryland. She was the third child born to the late Irene Holden and Edward Holden. She departed this life on Wednesday December 1, 2021, at Virtua Hospital in Marlton New Jersey. She began her education at Salisbury Elementary School up to the ninth grade, then relocated to Philadelphia and attended Girl’s High School, where she received her Diploma. She also attended Temple Nursing School for four years. In the early year of 2000 Janet relocated to New Jersey with her son Daniel and Daughter n law Sherrell. Janet was united in marriage to the late Calvin Freeman. Janet worked in the Nursing Field in Philadelphia at multiple Hospitals, with having various jobs caring for children and the elderly. She also worked as a nanny for the Walton’s family caring for their four children. Janet was a Christian woman that loved the lord and committed to doing God’s work. She was called to preach the gospel in 1994. She was ordained and received her license in 1995 under the leadership of the late Reverend Lee Mason the Pastor of Northeast Baptist Church. Soon after she became a member of Thankful Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Ivan Hewitt. She also sang on the church choir and joined the All Faith Chorus who was a part of the late Thomas Dorsey Gospel Choir who traveled all over the world. She was a soloist and loved to sing and worship any time of the day. Her favorite song was “Precious Lord”, she would sing until she was hoarse. After relocating to New Jersey, she joined Green Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Holland. She loved Women’s Day, because she got to march during offering time, and she would praise God all the way down the aisle. Janet was very special to many people. She always offered to help even if it was just a phone call. She lived for the phrase towards her grandchildren “A bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck”, and the phrase “If you haven’t told someone today, tell them that God loves you and so do I”. Janet leaves to cherish her memory: two daughters, Sherry Freeman, Iola Broaddus; two sons, James Broaddus, Daniel Freeman Sr; two daughters-in-law, Sherrell Freeman, Sandra Broaddus; fourteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one niece, Roylene Crawford; four nephews, Bruce Holden, Howard Holden, Bodine Holden, Timothy Holden; a host of great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews; a loving best friend, Ada Clarke; a church family, and a host of many friends.
