Obituary of Inez J Parker

Please share a memory of Inez to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
INEZ NORA JOHNSON PARKER was joyfully welcomed into the loving home of her parents, the late Sydney Hamilton Johnson, Sr., and Alberta Margaret Nottingham Johnson, on June 27, 1928. She was the second of two children born to this couple as they already had a son, Sydney, Jr., born on September 4, 1925. Inez graduated from Delaware High School. She furthered her education by matriculating at Harlem Hospital School of Nursing in New York City, receiving her degree in 1950. In 1953, she married the love of her life, the late James Thomas Parker, Sr. This union was blessed by one son, Justin Tranz. Inez was a competent registered nurse and was employed at various hospitals over the years prior to her retirement. She attained the position of Supervisor of Nurses over the years due to her competency. Because of her vast knowledge of medicine, she was a credible source who willingly provided medical information and guidance to some of her family members and friends when they were ill. Inez loved the Lord and was a member of Vine Memorial Baptist Church in Philadelphia, PA, later moving to Calvary Baptist Church in Chester, PA where she was a member for many years. She later joined East Lansdowne Seventh Day Adventist Church in East Lansdowne, PA where Rev. Shawn L, Fordham is the Pastor. She truly enjoyed being a member of this church and would constantly share so many of her memorable experiences from attending Sabbath Services and Prayer Meetings. Many palates benefitted from Inez’s culinary skills. She was widely known for baking homemade rolls and assorted cakes. Inez was preceded in death by her devoted husband, James Thomas Parker, Sr, her brothers, Dr. William Hamilton Johnson and Sydney Hamilton Johnson Jr., and her parents Sydney and Alberta Johnson. Her stepdaughters, Linda Gilliard and Yvonne Lewis, as well as grandson, John Eric Gilliard Jr., also preceded her in death. Inez Nora Johnson Parker is survived by her son, Justin Tranz; sister-in-law, Hattie Johnson; sons-in-law, John Gilliard (late Linda Gilliard) and Roger Lewis, Sr. (late Yvonne Lewis); grandsons Stephen Lee Stewart, Justin Tranz II, Jermaine Gilliard, Roger Lewis-O’Rourke, Michael Lewis, TheonaMichelle Lewis, Tiffany Lewis, bonus granddaughter, Kayla Foy; nephews Sydney Demby and Carvin Demby; three first cousins, Lenora Seymour, Maxcine Collier and Gregory Selby, and a host of other relatives, friends and acquaintances. She is also survived by her loving church family, included her beloved pastor, Rev. Shawn Fordham.
