Obituary of Lionel X Jordan

CELEBRATING THE LIFE & LEGACY OF BROTHER LIONEL X JORDAN Lionel Jordan was born in Waterbury, CT on Monday, July 28, 1969. He is the son of Mary Louise Jordan and the late George Pierce. He passed away the morning of Friday, December 24, 2021 at 52 years old peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving and faithful family. He was the husband of Da’Lynn R Jordan and oldest brother to younger siblings Kimberly, Jamel, and Nicole Jordan. Lionel spent his high school years at Kaynor Technical H.S and Crosby H.S then eventually graduated from Waterbury Adult Education in 1989. He went on to continue his education at culinary school and began loving to cook for his family. After fathering many children it was time for a career change so he later became a Certified Nurse’s Aide which catapulted his interest into the field of Human Services. At age 29, Lionel’s life was forever changed. Growing up enjoying his childhood in Berkeley Heights, Long Hill Projects he became a product of his environment. He might’ve always been the smallest in the pack but was forever a leader. Nevertheless, in 1999 a dear friend gifted him a mentality shifting book, “From Niggas to Gods” which allowed him to embrace his life becoming a new man. He was then introduced to the Nation of Islam by Brother Rodney and moved to Hartford, CT to walk faithfully with Minister Naeem and Brother Keith. Being under the tutelage of the Honorable Louis Farrakhan empowered him to put these teachings to action and later became a Secretary and Student Minister. In 2008, Lionel finally married life partner and already mother of three sons, Da’Lynn. He then united with the rest of the family and joined Love Fellowship Tabernacle under the leadership of the illustrious Bishop Hezekiah Walker. Shortly after, the household moved to Willingboro, NJ and Lionel quickly became an active member of the community. Brother held the post of FOI Coordinator and was a long-standing soldier in the Nation of Islam. He began working with the men and founded the “Sonz of Man” and “Watchman of the Round Table” which allowed men to come together to self improve and become better persons to all they are connected to. Lastly, Brother Lionel became affiliated with “Honk for Peace”, an organization started to bring equality to the neighborhood and “Melanin Market” which motivated people to purchase from local black businesses. Faith and fear of the Lord was most important to Lionel. Very close behind was his wife and family. Family including not just relatives but the wonderful people he’s met along the purposeful paths of his life. For the end of his employment, Lionel worked with Caring Counselors and Creative Changed as a Behavioral Assistant in each company. Working with adolescence was a passion of his so he put his all into what he did. Lionel and Da’Lynn also just came together to minister and counsel married couples in the community in which they spilled their wisdom into each situation. We hope this wasn’t as long-winded as we all know he is but Lionel lived such a loaded life from beginning to end. A few paragraphs is not nearly enough to expand on such an influential person’s life. He’s not only comical but also inspiring, independent, energetic, staunch, light-filled, devoted, selfless, and knowledgeable which he longed to give to others. “Lie” may have been his nickname once upon a time but that was far from what he told. Even if you didn’t like it, his lectures always left you with self reflection and a warrior-like energy. And of course simply being in Lionel’s presence you couldn’t help but to be seasick. His impact and example will forever be with all because of the legacy he leaves to follow. Mr. Lionel Jordan will be sorrowfully missed but will live through all he left us with. He was predeceased by his son Aarel Jones, grandmother Annie H. Brown & uncle Ernest Jordan, Jr. Lionel leaves to cherish his memories his children Lionel Overstreet, Avery Jordan, Terrel Jackson, Aries Jordan and Aric Jackson, Aaron Blizzard, Shanice and Melanne Torres, Zaakira Jordan, and chosen daughter Da’J Jackson. Uncle Robert “Peanut” Hubert, Uncle Andrew Hubert, Aunt Jinny Sam Wright, and Aunt Kat(therine) are also left to mourn. Last but not least are his brother in-laws EmCee and Antwon D Jones I, and sister in-law Davana D. Jones. 9 Grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousims.
