Obituary of Lorraine Crisdon

Please share a memory of Lorraine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lorraine Crisdon was born to the late Norman and Viola Crisdon on October 1, 1940 in Camden, NJ. Lorraine went home to the “Glory of Paradise” on Monday, December 27th, 2021. Lorraine enjoyed working and meeting new people. In her earlier years she worked as a Bartender at various well attended establishments in the area, made many friends and became a favorite amongst many dignitaries. She worked in Atlantic City at the Golden nugget Casino as a Cashier and she worked as a retail associate at Bradlees in Audubon, NJ. Lorraine received her education from the Camden City School District. She later attended Camden County College to receive a degree in Social Work. Although she thoroughly enjoyed that field of work, she developed a passion for teaching. She was dedicated to the teaching field and spent 25 years educating and developing the minds of youth. Her specialty was building strong foundations through reading, writing and arithmetic. She was also very gifted with beautiful penmanship and taught students how to write in cursive before it became a long lost practice. The students, teachers and staff was very fond of Lorraine and showed her love and expressed gratitude for her assistance as an educator. She was everybody’s favorite. Lorraine retired in 2004, but continued to extend her love of teaching and volunteering her time and talents as often as she liked. Lorraine was the last of three siblings. They were known as “The Big Three”. She loved her brother Ronnie and sister Shirley with all of her heart. She was considered an angel on earth bearing the strength and courage to assist others during their time of need weather in sickness or in health. She was always willing and available to help whenever and wherever she was needed. No questions asked. When she was called, she’d answer and showed up pronto! Her children, grandchildren and great grands were cared for deeply by her mothering and nurturing ways. She had a heart of gold and to be in her presence was equivalent to standing on the shoulders of a giant. Lorraine was known to be extremely organized and being on time was top priority. Time was her mark for being on point. Her famous saying is “un-organization is chaos” or “Make sure you pay your rent on time”! She enjoyed being in flow with life and moving through it easily and effortlessly despite any challenges. Lorraine experienced the greatest joy when she was with family. She was happiest spending time with her four children and grandchildren. She always made the holidays special for family and friends. Her home was warm and inviting and all who entered was greeted with love and compassion. She enjoyed cooking, shopping, decorating and traveling. She was known for her tasty displays of fabulous foods and her “oh so delicious” Potato salad which she received many request to make for different occasions. Her favorite “thing” to do was get up bright and early in the morning, take the bus to Philadelphia and stop at Reading-Terminal to shop and indulge in tasty foods. She made the most out of whatever she wanted to experience daily. In the 1960’s Lorraine met her loving, life-long friend, world renowned musician, Bobby Durham. He was a professional jazz musician and was amongst the Jazz-Greats. Her time with him included travelling, enjoying music and experiencing the finer things in life. She explored places such as Paris, Greece, Italy, etc. and took pictures to show her adventures. She also enjoyed bus trips and outings with her sister, brother and best friends. A special thanks to Lorraine’s loving care team who took great care of her during her time of need: Her grandson Tyshon Crisdon who spent the last two years caring for his grandmom, her children who stepped in and rotated around the clock, her grandchildren who pitched in as needed and Nori Morales who dedicated her time and attentiveness. Lorraine Crisdon was predeceased by her parents Norman and Viola Crisdon, brother Ronald and sister Shirley Crisdon, and cousin Ursely Parker. Lorraine leaves to cherish fond memories: son: Tyrone Crisdon, daughters: Cynthia, Linda, and Monique Crisdon. Granddaughters: Shabree, Neyhan and Jade Crisdon. Janae Bush, Jamie Chestnut, Debrise Clark, Grandsons: William Crisdon (deceased) Jabbar Clark (deceased) Tyshon, Myron, Devon Crisdon. Tyrone Bush, Antwan Bush, and several great grands, and great, great grands and many nieces, and nephews. Lovingly Submitted, The Family
