Obituary of Agnes A Truitt

Please share a memory of Agnes to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Agnes A. Truitt, (Agnes McCombs) the youngest of eight, was born in Palmyra, New Jersey on June 22, 1943 to the late Agnes and Ernest McCombs, Sr. Agnes attended the Palmyra School District. In the early 1960’s she played for, The Majestics, a traveling softball team from Palmyra. She later went on to start her work career as a nursing assistant at Cinnaminson Manor in Cinnaminson, New Jersey. As the toy industry began to boom, she began working at Tyco Toys in Moorestown, New Jersey for more than 10 years. She later entered the food industry and worked for Aramark Foods in the Cherry Hill School District. Through the generosity of God and the Holy Spirit, the gift of hospitality is an ability to warmly welcome and receive people. Agnes did just that. She lived thoughtfully and generously towards others, raising her oldest grandson (Dwayne Kemp) while still raising her own family and opening her door to many others along the way, taking in a niece, two nephews, and friends alike. Agnes was a member of GateKeepers Ministry International for over 30 years. She was affectionately known by her church family as “Mom Agnes.” She was a teacher of the JDT Bible College Training Center as well as Sunday School. She was a committed member of the Mother’s Board, Search Rescue and Relief Committee, a member of the Usher Board, The Worship Team and a greeter for church visitors and members. “Mom Agnes” loved to serve the Lord. “Aggie” was also known for her stylish ways, flawless hair, bowling skills, and a smile that could light up a room. She had an infectious laugh that would last well after the moment, often laughing until she cried. At the same time, with a mild and gentle spirit, she exuded wisdom and grace, pouring the word of God into the lives of others. She was constantly at work for the Lord. You could often find Agnes quietly playing a game of solitaire, doing a word search, watching football and old reruns of ‘Walker, Texas Ranger’. However, her biggest joy was spending time with her family, especially during the holidays. Agnes, also known as “Mom-Mom” especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Everyone loved her Pancakes, Chocolate Chip Cookies and Fried Chicken, she always made them with love. No matter what time she awoke, she had to have breakfast, as that was her favorite meal of the day. Lastly, she enjoyed dancing, but would never hesitate to remind you that, “I only dance for Jesus.” She leaves to mourn (2) children, Troy Kemp and Tina Truitt-O’Neal (Eric). She is predeceased by her two sons, Wayne Kemp and Bernard Truitt, Jr. She also leaves to mourn her sister, Betty Rosser, predeceased by her (5) sisters, Geneva Fitzgerald, Beulah Taylor, Dora Baskerville, Julia Smith, Dorothy Daniels and brother, Ernest McCombs, Jr. She leaves to cherish (6) grandchildren, Dwayne Kemp, Edward Washington, Jr., Tamara Kemp, Tianna Lewis, Kayla Washington, Kyra Washington, (5) Great Grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
