Celebrating THE LIFE OF & LEGACY OF MOTHER MILDRED PAYNE Mildred Williams was born August 8, 1932, to Gus Williams and Angie Grimes in Boynton Beach, Florida. She was one of nine children. She was saved and filed with the holy ghost at a young age. She was a faithful worker in the church where she met and married William Eugene Payne on January 14, 1950. To this union 3 children were born, William Eugene Jr., Mildred Lorraine, and Angela Ellen. Mother Payne loved to cook and bake. Many remember her baking delicious cakes and rolls. She was truly the definition of a virtuous woman. (Proverbs 31:10-31). Her home was always somewhere people could go and find help. She cared for many children and adults in her home. She will also be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, church mother and friend. Mother Payne was a prayer warrior. As a pastor's and later Bishop’s wife she made sure the saints were fed and comfortable, especially those who came from out of town. Mother Payne was employed at the Campbell's Soup Co., Hyatt Recency Hotel, the Camden City School District, and as a health aide at the Woodland Care Center in Camden. Two of her favorites were "The Windows of Heaven are open", and "I'm running for my life". Thank God for this Holy ghost filled virtuous women of God! Mother Mildred Payne, transitioned peacefully to glory on Thursday, January 6, 2021, at the age of 89. Mother Payne will be remembered as a loving and caring mother, church mother and grandmother (great grandmother), aunt, and friend. She will forever be missed by loved ones near and far. She is survived by one sister (Odessa Cobb), and one brother Ulysses Grimes. She is also survived by three children, William Payne, Mildred L. Carmichael and Angela Thomas (Eric), 9 grands, 1 deceased, 6 great-grands, and a host of nieces and nephews, and church family.
