Please share a memory of Sherrie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sherrie M. Chinn born January 9, 1947, and transitioned to glory on January 16, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents, John, and Elaine Gordon, and her daughter, Carla. Sherrie was raised in the Delair section of Pennsauken, NJ where she received her formal education in the Pennsauken School System, graduating from High School in 1965. While in High School she sang in the Glee Club, played Field Hockey, and played Softball. In 1965 she was crowned the Snowball Queen. Sherrie was one of the “Boss Girls”, a Girls Club formed by like-minded friends. Sherrie was employed by Campbell Soup Company for many years, and later by the State of New Jersey at Camden City Hall of Justice where she later retired. She married Wayne and together God would start to lead their lives for over 30 years. They attended Deliverance Evangelistic Church in Philadelphia, PA. Sherrie attended and graduated from the church’s Bible Institute. She sang in the church’s choirs and worked in Outreach Ministry. Sherrie and Wayne were Charter Members of a new church in Philadelphia, started by Pastor Dominic Joachim, Holy Temple of Deliverance. Her spiritual growth would continue too mature. In a few years, she and Wayne would start their own church in the City of Camden, called Living Waters Worship Center Ministry where they not only ministered to the soul but also fed and clothed those in need. She later joined the Antioch Baptist Church with her husband on August 4, 2010, under the leadership of Pastor John O. Parker. She remained faithful to the church for over 12 years and served in the Outreach Ministry. She was a vessel for service and took great pride in in her dedication to the Lord. Sherrie was lighthearted, fun loving, and a loyal friend. Travel was part of her lifestyle. She was an avid shopper and could shop all day looking for money saving bargins. She was a tremendous cook, a great baker of sweet potatoes pies, sour cream and pineapple upside down cakes. Life was full of the work of the church and raising two grandchildren. They always found time for fun, vacation trips, and traveling with Wayne’s sing group The Golden Voices of South Jersey and annual backyard bar-b-ques. Sherrie leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband Wayne, blended family Wadu Muhammed, Capri (Calef) Battie, Sonja (David) Kelly, and Rochelle` Bowman, two granddaughters Jaslynne and Jacqualyn Gordon, 3 great grandchildren Jayla, Jaelynn, and Jezelle, brothers-in-laws: Rev. G. Fred Chinn (Mary), Robin Pratt, sister-in-law: Cheryl Williams, aunt Patricia Cunningham and many cousins, and friend, and much church family. She will be missed by many.
