The Life Of Lucille Wilson Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. KJV-Proverbs 3: 5-6 Some of her last words were not only how she wanted to be remembered, but it was everything she embodied. “I want to be remembered for loving my family and loving the Lord.” That is where she found her love, strength, and solace. On January 13th, 2022, Lucille was comforted by the love of family when she was peacefully called home to be with her Lord and Savior. She attested each of her blessings to the work of God. For anyone that had the opportunity to know the loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, or friend; knew this was her greatest cause for celebration. Lucille Wilson, affectionately known as “Cille” was born on November 8th, 1944 in Estill, South Carolina. The daughter of the late Simpson and Alethia Fields-Wilson was one of eight children that spent many of her early years growing up within a close-knit home on her grandfather’s farm. After beginning her education in the Hampton County, South Carolina school district, the family would soon relocate in 1957 to Stamford, Connecticut due to several life altering events. She attended Cloonan Junior High and Stamford High School where she excelled in math and graduated in 1963. Her interest and natural gift with numbers would attribute to the beginning of her career at Fairfield County Trust Bank as a payroll manager. In 1969 Lucille made the decision to move across the country to Pasadena, California. She lived with her dear friend Patricia Parone as she also assisted with her companies bookkeeping. Throughout her time spent in California, she met the late Chester Slider and from their union her pride and joy Rodney was born on March 6, 1975. That year, Lucille and Rodney would briefly relocate back to Stamford, Connecticut. During her return to Connecticut, she began her spiritual journey with the Lord. Her house of worship became Union Baptist Church, in Stamford, Connecticut where she would be baptized and accept the Lord as her Savior. Lucille took a liking to South Jersey and decided to make this her final move in 1984. Blackwood, New Jersey became her permanent residence. This new beginning encouraged her to further her education at Camden County College from where she graduated with an Associates degree in Finance. For approximately five years, she worked with BPUM in Camden, New Jersey as a bookkeeper. She attained multiple job opportunities through her passion for math. Lucille was later employed by Shop Rite for over fifteen years and was loved for her charismatic qualities and her incomparable compassion for everyone. She was instrumental in assisting younger family members and friends with attaining their first jobs with the company. Although she attended and served in several churches throughout the area, she would later join Mount Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Dr. Edward F. Bellamy and now the first lady Rev. Carlease L. Bellamy. “Cille” enjoyed nothing more than spending time with family and attending Church on Sundays. Her hobbies also included singing, dancing, watching Philadelphia sports competitions, playing bingo, and listening to her favorite gospel or rhythm and blues music. She enjoyed showering her family and friends with love through multiple phone calls and voice mails. Regardless of the ailments she battled through on occasion, they never overshadowed the radiance in her voice. She found an abundance of joy and wealth in the most important things in Life; God & Family. Her angelic spirit shed a Light (meaning of Lucille) of love on everyone she encountered; her love will shine in our hearts forever.
