Obituary of Irene Fisher

Irene Fisher, daughter of the late Daniel and Mary Filmore, was born February 16, 1935 in King George, VA. She departed this life on Sunday, January 23, 2022 in Virtua Hospital in Camden, NJ. Irene attended Edge Hill Highschool in King George, VA. She loved the Lord. Irene attended Little Ark Baptist Church in King George, VA where she was baptized. She relocated to Moorestown, NJ where she joined Second Baptist Church and sang on the choir. It was then she met Stanley Fisher. In 1954, she and Stanley moved to Camden, NJ. Irene enjoyed taking long road trips with Stanley as he was employed as a truck driver. Out of their union she became the loving mother of seven children. In Camden, NJ Irene worked at the Camden Board of Education. She worked for the Board of Elections until 2015. Irene enjoyed listening to music, dancing, playing bingo, and traveling to Foxwood in Connecticut. Her favorite radio station was WURD 900 AM where she would listen to Louise Williams gospel every Sunday morning from 6 to 11 am. Irene had been listening to her for over 60 years. Irene was so excited when she heard Louise Williams announce her name on the radio thanks to an email from her children. If she wasn’t doing one of the aforementioned, she was watching game shows and completing another page in her many puzzle books. For now, Irene has God’s eternal peace, which will never go away, where there is everlasting life, everlasting home and never-ending joy. Irene leaves to cherish her loving memories: nine children, Wayne Sr., Keith (Karen) Fisher, Sheila, Linda (Michael Sr) Sanders, Sandy (Wayne), Ronald, Tanya, Wesley (Lillian) Harris, and Stanley II; eighteen grandchildren, Rashon, Isaiah, John Jr (Jasmine), Tiffany, Ashley, Britney, Kalina, Tannell (Casey), Christina, Ronald Jr, Jada, Jaliah, Mae, Lisa, Wesley Jr, Stacy, Leslie, and Stephanie; nine great grandchildren; one sister, Peggy Grant; one brother-in-law, Robert (Barbara) Fisher; one sister-in-law; Shirley Fisher; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Irene was predeceased in death by: her mother and father, Daniel and Mary Filmore; husband, Stanley Fisher Sr; brother, Percel Filmore; and grandson, Wayne Fisher Jr.
