Obituary of Joan M Monroe

Born to Margaret Simpkins and John Carsen on August 25, 1937, in Cincinnati, Oh. She was an only child. She met and married Louie Monroe in New York City. To this union was born one daughter Irma L and 3 sons Donald L., Christopher W. and Howard L. She had 9 grandchildren, Jermaine and Michael Walton, Jasmine Glast, Christopher, Shaunte and Ebony Monroe, Kellee & Freddie Looper, Charles Jacobs, plus a host of great grandchildren. After moving to NJ from NY she began working at Beth Israel Hospital as a Nurses’ aide and later became a Ward Secretary before retiring in 2002 after a horrific car accident. She was a member of Mt. Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church of Passaic, NJ where she met her dear friend Maria Texidor. She served in the Nurses Unit, along with participating in the Golden Agers. She lived in Passaic for 55 years before relocating temporarily to Willingboro with her son to stay with her daughter, after a devasting fire to her home. Joan passed peacefully in her sleep Tuesday January 25, 2022. Preceded in death by her husband Louie, son Howard and both her parents. She leaves to mourn her death her daughter Irma L. Walton {Monroe}, NJ, sons Donald L., NJ and Christopher W., KS, 9 grandchildren, multiple great grandchildren, Special “Sons” Roger, Robert, Gregory and Geoffrey Nelson, Friend Maria Texidor and her beloved pet Snax.
