George Malson was born on October 3, 1942 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Ernest B. and Hazel Malson. He departed this life after a lengthy illness on Sunday, January 30, 2022. George was educated in the Philadelphia Public School System, graduating from Simon Gratz High School in 1960. He joined the United States Air Force in February 1965, where he was assigned as a mechanic working on C-131 aircrafts. While serving on active duty and the Reserves, George was proud to serve his country in the Air Force, and was always willing to share his experiences with others. He received numerous awards for meritorious service, bravery, and dedication to our country. As a civilian George worked in the position of an Air Reserve Technician at McGuire Air Force Base. George worked for TWA (Transworld Airlines) for approximately thirty years where he managed the distribution of aircraft parts. George and Josephine were united in holy matrimony on May 10, 2003. They were married for 18 years. As a long-standing member of Bright Hope Baptist Church, he was a member of the Usher Board and Men’s Ministry. He served as President of the Bright Hope Baptist Church Usher Board, and was elevated to President Emeritus after his health began to fail. He was also an active member of the Bright Hope Baptist Church Men's Ministry and sang in the Men’s Day Choir. George was a devoted Christian in his faith, and loved serving the Lord as a door keeper at Bright Hope Baptist Church. Known for his sense of humor and a smile on his face, George could always make you laugh with the jokes he told. George loved to tell stories about the years he spent in Saudi Arabia while working for TWA. The Philadelphia Eagles was his favorite football team and he rooted for them proudly during family holidays and gatherings. George loved to travel and was mechanically inclined, with the skill sets to repair almost anything. George loved his children and grandchildren and was a devoted family man.
