Obituary of Jospeh A Jones
Please share a memory of Jospeh to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Joseph Alexander Jones, Sr. Passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 30, 2022. Joey as he was lovingly known, was born on January 24, 1956 to the late Madge E. and the late Joseph A. (Buster), in Camden, New Jersey. Joey was the fourth of seven children, pre-deceased by brothers Yusef, (a.k.a. Philip) and Michael, Sr.
Joey was educated in the Camden Public School System, attending H. L. Bonsall from kindergarten to eighth grade and graduating from Camden High School in 1973. A knee injury prevented him from pursuing a promising career with the N.F.L. so he became a top notch mechanic and electrician. Joe could fix anything from cars to all types of machinery, household and industrial, no job was too big or too small a challenge for
him as any of his family, friends and former bosses can attest.
Joe started his first real job in 1973 with J&J Snack Foods Corporation. After leaving there he went to work for Deluxe Bakery in 1985 until his retirement in February of 2020. Although retired, Joey was the kind of person who could not sit still, so he would help others doing all kinds of repairs and odd jobs whenever the need arose, just to keep busy. Joey was an avid Eagles fan and I, used to tease him whenever they
would lose.
He was fiercely devoted to his family especially his children, they were the loves of his life. He met and married his first wife Cora (nee Israel) and from this union two sons were born, Joseph, Jr. and Eric. He also became father to Cora’s daughter Gertrude, a.k.a. Trudy, by a previous marriage. A few years later, another son Aaron was born and three years after that a daughter Ariel and last another son Alex.
Joey leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Linda, children Joseph, Jr., a.k.a. Joe-Joe (Shacera), Eric (Kia), Gertrude (Craig), Aaron, Ariel, Jarrod, and Alex (Sandra). Sisters Valerie, Vickie (Karl), Harriet, and brother Mark (Tracey). Two sisters-in-law, Amina (Yusef-deceased) and Adera Johnson, two brothers-in-law, Billy Johnson and James Johnson (pre-deceased). Special friends, Cindy Greway, her husband (Charles-pre-deceased) and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
