Obituary of Illene Jones

Illene Jones, affectionally known as “Pinny” was born in Colon, Republic of Panama on September 23, 1926 and died on February 7, 2022 at the age of 95. Illene graduated from Silver City High School in Colon, Panama before she migrated to the United States in the 1960’s where she worked at the Chase Manhattan Bank until she retired. Prior to relocating to Pemberton NJ to live with her niece Teresa Buckley, Illene was a dedicated and faithful member of the Pentecostal City Mission Church in Brooklyn, New York. She was very artistic, creative and enjoyed going to the Senior Center. She had an amazing appetite and loved to eat, always ready for dessert! Don’t forget about her hot cup of tea. As a proud Panamanian, Illene took much pride in educating the younger generation on the Panama Canal and all the historic sites in Panama. Also, as an adopted New Yorker, she led and guided many on some site seeing adventures of the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building. She was living her best life! Illene is preceded in death by her parents (Ralph and Winifred Jones), her brothers (Stanely, Alman, O’Neil (Japeye) and Oscar Jones). Her sisters (Florence Cooper, Edna Cox and Linnette De Mercado). She leaves to cherish her warm and loving memories to her two surviving sisters (Priscilla Jones and Catherine Wilson) of Colon, Republic of Panama. Godson (Ronaldo Brown) and Goddaughter Dilcia McLanan, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
