I have very fond memories of my cousin William. William, his brother Albert (Skippy) and I were close in age I Tried to follow them and do what they did most of the time they got in trouble and I did too I remember when I got a brand new bike William and I went to Handy Park he had me on the handlebars the bike while he paddled we found his hill he said let’s go down this hill of course I said OK it was fun going down but when we got down to the bottom I went one way William and bike went another way well that was the end of the bike ride and the end of the bike I loved to see him play basketball I went to Sumner as well I was at his every game. As we got older and he moved away I missed him he would call me sometimes and I would call him we would talk about our children and our grandchildren And their accomplishments and we shared pictures via text
My husband Clifford and I at this time send our heartfelt condolences to Burma,Keisha and the rest of the family May God comfort, Strengthen and surround you with his steadfast love
Love cousin Laura Stokes Sykes (Pat)

My memories of my cousin William, who we called Wombo were of the bigger than life big cousins he & his brother Skip were to us younger cousins. They were teenagers when we were kids 7, 8, & 9 year olds. Everyone in the neighborhood knew Wombo & Skip & no one ever bothered us because they knew we were their little cousins. Wombo dominated the basketball courts in St. Louis & was always getting accolades for his basketball performance during high school. He was the best player in the city. Wombo was always the silly one, but would be there for us if we needed him. I am so proud of his accomplishments & how much he loved his family & friends in Jersey. It's hard to accept another one if us is gone because that unit was the foundation of my youth. Our grandmother was always crazy about Wombo & Skip, they were her boys. Rest in peace Wombo, kiss your mom & Grandmama & know no matter how far we were apart, the love was always there. Beverly Stokes

My memories of my cousin who was raised in St. Louis, MO and who family called Wambo, is always how he and his brother Albert or Skippy as the family called him, was their sheer dominance of the basketball court at our local park. No one could beat them and many in NJ may find it hard to believe, but he was truly silly and funny as a teenager. He and his brother were 7 or more than the score of younger cousins and they were larger than life to us. I will truly miss him and may God bless his soul and may he Rest In Peace. I love you my big cousin. Bobbie Stokes
