Celebrating the life and legacy of
Jerome Mitchell
Ecclesiates 3:1
To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven Jerome was born in Jersey City, NJ to the parentage of Woodrow and Edna Mae Mitchell Sr. Jerome was the younger of the two sons born to this beautiful couple.
Jerome was educated in the Jersey City Public School System.
Jerome was employed with several different trades over the years. His last employer was Gold Bond where he worked as a sheet rock operator. Jerome worked with Gold Bond until he became disabled in 1994. Jerome was the proud father of six children: Doris, Michele, Sean, John, Sharmain and Shanna.
In 1982 Jerome was joined in Holy Matrimony with Mary Banks. April 10th would have been 40 years of love and devotion that they shared with each other.
Jerome had a passion for the love of God; and he shared his gift of singing and sharing God’s Holy Word every opportunity that God allowed. He joined Alpha Baptist Church, January 27, 2008; where he was a faithful member of the male chorus. His favorite scripture was Psalm 23 and he would follow up with Ecclesiastes 3.
Jerome’s favorite meal was Oxtails, cabbage and rice! He also had a love for electronics, you could always find him fixing something or showing you the latest gadgets. Anyone who knew Jerome knew he loved to dress, and his trademarks were his hats and shoes.
He leaves a legacy of the love of God and sharing God’s Holy Word for us to follow.
He leaves to cherish his memories: His devoted wife of 40 years, Mary Mitchell of Willingboro NJ, two sons, Sean(Tresa)Livingston, of Jacksonville, NC, John(Tyessia)Grear, of Willingboro, NC, four daughters, Doris Melendez, of Pueblo, CO, Michele (Eric)Rhodes, of Bayonne, NJ, Sharmain(RonShawn)Taylor of Willingboro, NJ and Shanna of Riverside, NJ, Two siblings, Woodrow (Donna)Mitchell Jr., of Piscataway, NJ and Jeannie (Wesley) Worthy of Ludowici, GA, 19 Grandchildren, 15 Great grandchildren, a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends
