Celebrating the Life of Reverend Stenic E. Reaves, Sr. John 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name. A Time To Be Born, (Ecclesiastes 3:2) Stenic Reaves was born in Chunky, Mississippi on July 6, 1936, to Norah and Sweetie Bell Reaves. When he was three years old, the family moved to Brotmanville, NJ. He was the ninth of 14 siblings. Stenic was reared in the Brotmanville community where he raised his family after marriage. A Time to Live (Ecclesiastes 4:4) He attended Norma elementary school and graduated from Vineland High School in 1954. Stenic was a South Jersey high school wrestling champion. Stenic had a strong work ethic and held many jobs starting at a young age, working on poultry farms and at a concrete brick company. He was a top salesman for Progressive Life Insurance. Stenic also worked as a New Jersey Corrections Officer for many years before retiring in 2000. Stenic met the love of his life, Clora Clark in 1960 and they were married in 1962. They were happily married for over 59 years. Stenic loved to travel, fish; enjoyed bowling, singing and attending church activities and spending time with his family. He enjoyed playing his trumpet. A Time to Serve (Psalm 100:2) Stenic accepted the Lord at an early age and was baptized at Friendship Baptist Church and sang on the church choir. On Sundays the choir would sing on the radio. In 1984 he joined Revival Fellowship in Church in Bridgeton, NJ. He later became a member of First Baptist Church of Glassboro where he was ordained as a minister in 2010. He loved serving the Lord and enjoyed spreading the gospel through preaching, teaching, and working with incarcerated men. He was also a foster parent to 13 children. A Time To Die (Ecclesiastes 3:2) On Wednesday, March 16, 2022 God called Stenic to his eternal rest at Spring Hill Post Acute Care, Woodbury, NJ. He was preceded in death by his parents, ten siblings and two sons, Stenic Jr. and Martin Luther. A Time To Mourn (Ecclesiastes 3:2) He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Clora Reaves, two daughters Natalie Reaves (Kenith) of Elk Twp, Iris Reaves of Westampton and one son, Wesley Reaves of Vineland. He has five grandsons, Tavares, Demetrius, Tyree, Marcus and Langston and a god-daughter, Tashyra Newman, three sisters, Robinell Stevenson of Mesquite, Texas, Nora Roberts and Ora Reaves both of Brotmanville, Sisters in Laws Linda Reaves and Pearl Reaves. Rev. Emily Myrick, Norma; NJ, Mary Ferguson, Atlanta, Ga and Mamie McCray, Miami, Florida. He leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
