Homegoing Celebration For Beverly Elaine Robinson-Smart Beverly Elaine Robinson-Smart was born October 5, 1944, in Kingston, Jamaica to parents Ernest and Doris Robinson. She was the eldest and only daughter of their five children. Beverly attended Queensway Seventh Day Adventist high school in Kingston, Jamaica. She pursued a nursing career as a licensed practical nurse. Beverly was an active member of the Seventh Day Adventist church and choir. She was blessed with a beautiful voice which she enjoyed using to worship and praise God. Beverly had a kind, compassionate nature and loved life. She was affectionately known as “Mother Hen” by her brothers; “Bevy” by her aunts and family friends; and “Aunt Bev” by her nieces and nephews. In 1973, with her mother’s encouragement and support she moved to America for better opportunities and to be closer to her family. Beverly was known for her faith in God, her love for her five children, family, and homeland Jamaica. She visited her beloved Jamaica every opportunity she had. When she knew she was going home for a visit, Beverly would ship barrels filled with clothing and food supplies for her family and friends. Beverly was employed at Horton Memorial Hospital in Middletown, New York for over thirty years as a Nursing Assistant. Her heart desire was to help those who were sick. She was often asked by former patients to do private home care assignments. Beverly was a hard worker and taught her children to have the same work ethic. Beverly married Beresford Smart in 1999 and they were happily married until he went home to be with Jesus in 2002. Beverly was a member of The Greater Upperroom Apostolic Pentecostal Church in Middletown, New York for many years. Her children saw the example she set as a prayer warrior. She would pray for everything, whether big or small. Her faith and trust in God were seen throughout her life. She enjoyed cooking the traditional Jamaican dishes. Beverly could be seen preparing a feast whenever her children and grandchildren visited. Upon injuring her back on the job, and developing several health challenges, she retired from healthcare. Due to Beverly’s declining health, she relocated to New Jersey to live with her son and daughter. Her faith gave Beverly the inner strength to live her life on God’s Word that all things were possible with Him. When she was physically able, she enjoyed attending Worship services at Living Faith Christian Center and The Active Day Adult Care Center of Delran. On April 6th, 2022, Beverly closed her eyes and went home to be with Jesus. Beverly was predeceased by her parents, Ernest Robinson and Doris Robinson - Allen; her husband, Beresford Smart; her brother, Keith Robinson; her aunts, Eula Lee Foulkes, Gladise Foster, Lucille Foster, Lillian Salmon, Mavis Allen, Nora Brown, and Millicent Lobban.
