He was my guidance counselor at Howard Phifer middle school. By far the sweetest man ever. He always made sure I was ok while going through rough times. This breaks my heart. You will always be missed Mr. Butler

We were Rufus’ neighbors back in Line Street in Camden. His children and ours played together. We were all like family. He always had something encouraging and knowledgeable to share. He was and remained highly respected. I’ve known the family for about 40 plus years. My deepest condolences. May God continue to multiply His blessings and comfort on your family.

Rufus was a kind, gentle man with whom I worked at the beginning of my educational career and intermittently throughout it. He was effective with the students and I can picture them running up to him in the hall just for a hug, a rub on the head and a a smile. It was in the elementary school and middle school where worked his counseling magic.
