Sergeant First Class(retired) James Henry Lamar (Buddy), 89 departed this life on Friday, April 15, 2022, at his residence in Willingboro, New Jersey. James was born December 2, 1932, in Jacksonville, Florida and attended Dasher High School in Lowndes County, Georgia. James loved playing football and graduated in 1950. James was drafted into United States Army in 1953 and first stationed in Butzbach , Germany. While in Germany, James met the love of his life Irma (Reichel) in 1957 and married in 1961. James served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He toured many years in Germany and loved spending time with his German family. SFC James Lamar (retired) was a proud soldier serving as Tank Commander and Platoon Sergeant. He received many awards and medals and was respected by his colleagues and peers with a few still calling on him today. James retired serving 241/2 years in the U.S. Army and worked for Rohm and Haas in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for 15 years. James Lamar was a true soldier and patriot. He was a mild-mannered and gentle soul with family and friends always coming first. He loved to barbeque, watch his Eagles games on TV and western movies. He was most proud of his grandson, Adrian. James had the utmost morals and character and will be greatly missed by all family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Irma Lamar, daughter Susanne Spaulding (Jerome) of New Castle DE, grandson Adrian Spaulding of Washington DC, sister Olivia (Lamar) Edwards of Philadelphia PA, Aunt Helen (Morgan) Holmes of Jacksonville FL and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Fred Lamar, Bessie (Morgan)Lamar and brother Frank Morgan.
