Obituary of Nicholas R Hawk

It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of our beloved Nicholas Robert Hawk, affectionately known to family and friends as "Nick". He passed peacefully after an extended illness on Friday, July 8, 2022 at home lovingly surrounded by his family at the age of 61. He was a man of great integrity who was special to us all and will be greatly missed by his family who he absolutely lived for, his friends, and all who came to know and love him. Nick was Born in Chambersburg, PA, to Robert Nicholas Hawk and Dolores Hawk nee Cox and attended Chambersburg public schools. After an honorable discharge from the Army, Nick lived in Terrell, Texas for several years before relocating back to Pennsylvania and then permanently settling in New Jersey. Prior to his retirement in 2021, he worked for more than 20 years as a gifted computer programmer for Independence Blue Cross. He was proud of his lifelong role as a youth sports coach and mentor to both his children and many others in the community. Nicholas is survived by his mother Dolores Hawk nee Cox, Sister, Peggy Jones nee Hawk (Chris), 10 Children; Tia Hawk, Jessica Roden nee Hawk (Michael), Jason Bickford, Diona Byrd, Lairen Vogan nee Hawk (Ian), Deserea Byrd, Evan Hawk, Dante' Byrd, Destiny Byrd, and Maxwell Hawk, 12 Grandchildren; Mackenzie Garlock, Madison Meyers, Kya & Xander Hawk, Landen Hawk, Serena & Dante Jr. Byrd, Owen Roden, William & Nora Vogan, Azeliah Hawk, and Marleigh Hawk, 2 great grandchildren; Layla & London Carr, a host of nieces and nephews and his former wives Kathy Wetzel nee Short and Tracey Byrd. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Hawk and sister Lisa Brown nee Hawk. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation for the many prayers, gestures of kindness, support and expressions of sympathy extended to them during their bereavement. Per his wishes, in lieu of a funeral service there will be a gathering in celebration of Nicholas’ life on Sunday, August 14, 2022.
