Obituary of Reginald W. Dokes, Sr.

Reginald Wendell Dokes, Sr. was born on May 23rd 1967 to Robert Dokes, Sr. and Mary A. Dokes. Reginald was born in South Boston, Virginia. Unfortunately, on August 2nd 2022 his battle with cancer was lost. Anyone who knew him knew he was a hard working man. Reggie dedicated the last 23 years of his life working for Mike Beeler Equipment Services. There Reggie made even more friends and work brothers and sisters. Though Reggie loved all his grandchildren he had a special bond with Arionna. He was her frick to her frack. Reggie was her PopPop, her hero, her friend but most importantly her DAD. Even though he will be truly missed, I am grateful for all the time we were blessed with his presence. Reggie was the kind of man who put everyone first. Everyone who knew him would say he was a good man. Even though he wasn’t perfect, he was a perfect husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He definitely was the glue to our family. He was overly emotional, but that was because he loved and cared with all of his heart. The last few months of his life, Reggie suffered in silence. He cared so much that he didn’t want his family to be worried. We love and miss our dad, but we are grateful he is not suffering anymore. Even though Reggie (our dad) isn’t here anymore he didn’t leave his wife, Lauren alone!! He left her with four children and six grandchildren who will always make sure she is safe and well taken care of!!! He is in heaven with his mother and will always and forever be watching over us. He was survived by his wife, Lauren Y Steele-Dokes of 33 years but his partner in crime for over 37 years. Together they graced the world with four wonderful children: Timothy L. Steele (Krystal), Chanelle N. Dokes -Wade (Eric), Reginald W. Dokes Jr., and Justin M. Dokes (Nija). Reggie was further blessed with six grandchildren: Jordan, Timothy, Lonzo, Arionna, Makayla and Kameron. He is also survived by his father, Robert Dokes, Sr.; special mother, Geraldine Dokes; mother-in-law, Ellen Merritt; three siblings: Robert Dokes, Jr., Malinda Dokes(Travis), and Thadissus Dokes (Saleita); two siblings-in-law, William L Steele, Jr. and Stephanie M Jones, countless nieces, nephews, cousins and other loved ones.
