Obituary of Marie Harvey

Marie Ruth Scruggs Harvey was born on June 23, 1941 to Edward Scruggs and Clair Butler Scruggs in Monroeville, New Jersey. Marie attended Clayton School District from elementary through high school. She worked for Visiting Nurses in Runnemede, New Jersey for 35 years and continued to work in health care until her health started to fail. Marie married the love of her life, Tillman Harvey on March 12, 1969. They were married for 51 years, until Tillman went home to be with the Lord. From this union came Donna Harvey. Before marriage, Marie had three children – James Scruggs, Cynthia Scruggs, and Rita Scruggs. In Marie’s leisure time she loved going to the casino playing bingo and dancing to her favorite singer “Aretha Franklin”. Marie had a big heart and loved to help others spend time with her family. She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Scruggs; mother Clair Butler Scruggs, husband Tillman Harvey; brother, Edward Scruggs (aka Legs); son, James Scruggs, and step-daughter, Linda Blackstone. She leaves to mourn her daughter: Cynthia Scruggs of Lindenwold, New Jersey, Rita Scruggs of Glassboro, New Jersey, and Donna Harvey of Mullica Hill, New Jersey; her brother, Earl Scruggs (Margaret) of Sicklerville, New Jersey; sister, Linda Moore (George) of Elk Township, New Jersey, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
