Obituary of Sonya Serena Swint

Please share a memory of Sonya to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sonya Serena Swint, 54, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2023 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, in Cherry Hill, New Jersey after a long, arduous battle with kidney disease. Born December 2, 1968, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Cledell Swint and Louis Wyatt, now deceased. Serena grew up attending church-from Primary Sunday School to Sun-Shine Band to Usher. She was a 1985 Graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, Camden, NJ. In 2007, Serena married MD Hunter, but later divorced. She had several jobs throughout her career. She last worked as a childcare provider with Merchantville Elementary Just Kids, where she was loved and respected by children and staff alike. Serena would smile broadly when lovingly called Ro-Ro & "Bunkum-Bear". In the early years, she displayed a flair for showmanship. When only five years old, while at the Sesame Street Ice Capades, she hopped from her seat, and danced in the aisle, along with the Sesame Street Characters, and shouted, "Mom, they're doing the funky chicken". Her favorite childhood television show was "The Banana Splits". Her favorite color was blue. She loved frozen grapes and was passionate about baseball. Her favorite team was the Atlanta Braves. Onward, throughout her teen years and adulthood, she showed a calm happiness for life and things loved. Slow-moving, but steady, deliberate, focus and smart, Serena exhibited a cool exterior, but she was ardently in love with her children. She poured herself into their development in full, protective, sympathetic measure. With all that she loved, Serena lived in expedient, quiet joy. Serena leaves to cherish her memory, her three, beautiful children, Tobias, Te'a and Tyler; her loving mother, Cledell Swint; her devoted sister, Diane M. Holden (Anthony); two stepbrothers Rodney and Ricky Wyatt; four adorable grandchildren, Laiani, Laikai, Truth and Harlow, her steadfast "Pop" Bennie Swint and a host of aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews; extended family and friends.
