Please share a memory of Helen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Helen McLaurin was born in Summerville SC in the year of our Lord October 7, 1931, to Lorrain Howard. She departed this life January 24, 2023, at age 91. She came to New York in the late 1940’s and married Robert Williams and later James McLaurin both deceased. Later in life she had a long loving relationship with Edward Freeman, also deceased. She will be missed by her children, Ricardo, Rosalind, Steven, Gail Eugene, John Jr. (a son adopted in heart) and James Jr. (predeceased). She had 10 grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren, cousins and many friends. In her earlier years she was an Eastern Star and an active member of the American Legion Post 336 in Burlington NJ. She worked several jobs throughout her long life and retired from Sam’s Club as her last employment. She loved to dance and would shake her tail feather anytime she heard her favorite James Brown or Jackie Wilson song, she also loved her some BB King and would rock and sway to his music. Helen was known lovingly by “Nana” and had a Bingo family that also adored her. She loved hanging with her grandson Shawn as they were non-stop with bingo and several Las Vegas trips! He would say, “Be ready Nana” and she would be already packed” Lol!! Her family was her life and she smiled to the end when she talked about all of them. She gave us all good memories that we will forever cherish. In Loving Memory THE ONES WE LOVE NEVER GO AWAY THEY WALK BESIDE US EVEN ON THIS DAY. UNSEEN, UNHEARD, YET ALWAYS NEAR.
