Please share a memory of Barbara to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Barbara Ann (Blount) Williams was born December 23, 1960, in Camden, NJ to the late Robert Blount, Sr. and Ruth (Colvin) Blount. She was the third of six children born to their union. Barbara was formally educated in the Camden City Public School system and furthered her secondary education at Camden County College in Blackwood, NJ and PB Cosmetology Education Centre in Gloucester City, NJ. She was joined in Holy matrimony to the late Peter James Williams, Jr. on September 3, 1994. Barbara also mothered one child, Brandon Maurice Blount. Barbara, who was also affectionately called by her middle name ‘Ann’, worked as a teacher’s assistant at Partners in Parenting and New Horizon Childcare centers. Furthermore, she was employed in the customer service, loan processing, and direct sales spaces. One of her premiere talents was as a barber. Her clients dubbed her as “Ms. Barbara the Barber”, and she worked as a self-employed barber for 30 years. Barbara, being tremendously gifted with her hands, was a musician who played the piano, organ, drums, and dabbled on a myriad of other instruments. She was also a singer-songwriter and wrote several original compositions. Barbara was a fan of home “Do-It-Yourself” projects and had several tool bags of gadgets that she used to fix things around the house. Barbara also loved to cook and bake for her family, friends, and clients. She was a true renaissance woman, and always used the gifts and talents God gave her to bless others. Barbara gave her life to Christ in her late teen years and exhibited signs of the indwelling Holy ghost shortly thereafter. From birth, she was raised in the St. John Church of the Apostolic Faith, and served all her life as a loyal and committed member, under the leaderships of Bishop Carlyle and Mother Mary Jane Tarte, Pastor Arnetha Thompson and Co-Pastor Samuel Nelson Tarte, Pastors Bert and Danielle Wright, and Bishop Michael and Pastor Malinda Blue. In May 2004, she was affirmed as a licensed Minister in the Lord’s Church, submitted under the authority of the Christian Covenant Fellowship of Ministries (CCFM). An anointed teacher, Barbara taught several lessons such as, “Resurrection by the Promise Keeper”, “A place to lay HIS head”, “One touch of the border restored order”, “What is that?”, “Look Up”, “Say what HE said”, and many other sermons. Barbara transitioned into the glory of our Lord in Heaven on March 17, 2023. In addition to her parents and husband, Barbara was preceded in death by her nephew, John Wesley McRae, twin nieces Amira and Quamira Blount, and spiritual son, Christian Davis. To revere her legacy, she leaves one son, Brandon Blount, four sisters, Dorothy Blount, Sharon McRae, Janee Fuller (Laurence), Stacey Blount; One brother, Robert Blount, Jr., three spiritual children Jasmine Pender (James), Billy Joe Marrero, Jonathan Santiago (Candace); Seven sisters in Christ, Dawn Davis (Bruce), Yvonne Moulton (Calvin), Wilena Jones (Bryant), Elaine Jones (Marvin Sr.), Sheila Jones, Carol James, Ute Thompson (Keith), three confidantes, Queen Esther Bullock, Wanda Crespo (Marcos), Yvette Wanamaker, and a great host of cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, a great-great nephew and a great-great niece, God children (Marcus Wallace and Melanie Minguela), Church family, and friends.
